Family Trip

So, on August 5, 2008 it was my birthday and my family wanted to celebrate it by going on vacation to California. Usually we drive everywhere but this time we were flying and it was my first time ever flying on an airplane. On the car ride there I was very anxious my legs were trembling and my hands were shaking and I was sweating a little bit. My Mom sitting right next to me in the back seat said its ok there is nothing to worry about. As we arrive to the airport and unpack all of our luggage, I hear a loud airplane taking off. I was very nervous at this point going onto the airplane.

As we walk into the airport there are a lot of people scrambling around trying to catch their flight and it was very loud. I stick close to my mom. We finally make it to our gate and we have to wait a little bit before we can board onto our plane. After a while we can finally board the plane. As I was walking through the tunnel onto the plane my heart was pounding because I didn’t know what to expect. As we enter the plane I see quite a few people already seated and ready to go my anxiety rises. I finally get to my seat and my dad and my brother are sitting with me. As people get ready I look outside the window and I see other planes taking off above me. After a while of looking outside the window I hear the intercom go off and the pilot is greeting us and warning us to put on our seatbelts because we are about to take off. I grab my seatbelt tightly and put it on. I grab my arm rest as I hear and see the airplane take off. The feeling when the plane goes up into the air was very scary it felt like you were suspended in the air and about to fall.

After a while of flying there weren’t too many maintenance and the intercom goes off again and warns that we are about to land. As we are declining through the clouds I can see the beautiful city of Los Vegas and I am astonished by the lit-up city at night. During the landing it wasn’t so bad because we actually landed quite smoothly. As I get off the plane I think to myself-man planes aren’t so bad after all and I was never afraid of planes ever again. It changed me by if you’re afraid of something try it out and experience it cause it’s not as bad as you think.
