Seeing My Dad on Christmas
How would you feel if your dad and mom were divorced? You would probably be down in the dumps. That was how I felt when I was younger. When I was in sixth grade I hadn’t see my dad in forever because my parents were divorced and my dad lived with his mom and dad. During that time I was really missing him. My mom called him and asked him to come over around Christmas break.
That Christmas was cold and snowy. Two days before Christmas my mom, sister, and I arrived home from the grocery store. My dad was resting on the front porch. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was fired up because I had not seen him in a long time. We hugged. I gave him a bear hug. My sister was jumping up and down. My mom welcomed him into the house.
“Dad, I am so glad that you came over!” I said.
“Me too!” my sister exclaimed.
I finally got some time off of work. I work so much,” my dad said. “Come on let’s go inside so I can show you what I got.
My dad brought gifts for me and my sister. I got Legos, movies, some cars, video games, Pokemon cards, and books. My sister got Littlest Pet Shop, Barbies, Pokemon cards, Legos, and Rubber bands to make bracelets. I was astonished that he knew what we wanted for Christmas. I thought that my mom probably told him what I wanted.
“Thank you so much! I wanted this stuff,” I shouted.
“You are welcome,” my dad replied.
My favorite gift was Legos. I love Legos. My dad got my a 3-in-1 Creator’s kit. It was green and it turned into a boat, helicopter and jeep. I started building it right away after we were done opening presents. I was as happy as could be. My dad was a great Santa.
My dad stay with us for two days. We watched movies we watch Ant Man, and Harry Potter, played in the snow we build a big snowman and ate meals together we ate chicken and potatoes. My dad took us to a big hill by the dog park. We went sledding on it. My dad even went with us to my grandma’s to open presents there. It was so fun that my dad could stay with us.
From this experience I learned that family is important. Even though my parents aren’t together anymore I am glad they still can get along & spend time with me and my sister.
