On multiple occasions I've got myself hurt or in trouble by not paying attention. I've fell of the gym bleachers while walking backwards, ran into a tree while playing tag and broke my nose, and almost getting hit by a car. I realized I was not as aware of my surroundings and careful as I thought I was here.

It was a nice breezy day during the month of October when I was playing with the new remote control red sports car my Grandpa just bought me. It was a Nissan 350z sports edition. It had vibrant blue and orange eagle decals on the side doors. It also came with a couple stickers and some black racing stripes. The rims were plastic with a fake chrome look and it had a black spoiler on the back end. I also put one of my Lego star wars character's in the driver's seat to make seem a little more realistic. In my grandma's driveway, I was attempting to get the car to do doughnuts when it spun out into the street. I had to go get the car out of the street, so I started to walk down the driveway.

I realized that I had just went out into the middle of the road without being aware of my surroundings and that could have potentially changed or ended my life. That possibly fatal mistake could have entirely changed the rest of my life. I looked up and saw a car coming from my right-side. It was a dark blue Chevy Trailblazer, with a dent in the front left side of it’s bumper. The driver screamed,

 "Watch out boy!".

In my head I knew I had to get out of that situation as fast as humanly possible, but there was this little voice in my brain that was telling me I had to save the car. So, I kicked the remote car with all the force in my leg and jolted back into my Grandma's driveway. After that moment of almost being being hit by a car, I felt like a deer in headlights, not looking around and not knowing what's coming for me. Once I saw that big blue busted SUV I knew I had to do something. I've started being more aware of my surroundings. I look out for cars whenever crossing the street and I think about what the potential is that something could be done to me in certain areas I am in. I watch who I am around and who I can trust and the people I feel are no threat to me or my well being.
