Dedication

My mom is the best influence on me. She has been through so much, but the best thing is she does not let the pressure get to her. Well, she never let me see it get to her; her motivation is impeccable. I saw her dedication to get back on her feet after she hit rock bottom. I remember there were times her and I would collect cans, so we could share a drink at mcdonald’s. Now she has a masters degree in education, and she is constantly taking flights across the country for business conventions.

I’ve never seen the pressure get to this women; any bad situation she is placed in, I have always seen her overcome adversity. Most challenges we faced were about where we were going to stay at night. They were not always the best places to stay (a blue Honda, strangers’ houses, a Motel 6 and other run down motels), but there was roof over our head so I couldn’t complain. Even though she was struggling financially, she would never give up trying. She wanted the best life for her son.

My mother’s motivation is inspiring. She has more courage than anyone I have ever seen. Unfortunately, my mother was not blessed enough to go to college right after high school. Despite her lack of education, she still managed to get by. If you give her a task she will do the it to the best of her ability. Like if you needed an update on an access database or any program on the computer she would figure it out.

When she was working with the lottery at night she said, "I would just read computer manuals, finding out how computers work." And this did inspire her to use technology as her way to make it in the world. She went from a country girl, to making 103 thousand a year working for People Soft, (a company that makes solutions for manufacturing.) Then after 9/11 and the economy crisis, she said she needed a degree. She also chose the path to get the masters, her intent was never to be average. She would strive more if she wanted it bad enough. Now my mother just implements the data charts for the school of family and medicine, her education really payed off, helped her grab a better title.Able to bring home more money which always brings home more happiness. I learned alot from my mother you have to do what you have to do to get what you want accomplished This motivated me to want to take my education seriously, and do the best I can at any task I am faced with in the future.
