Teenage Joyride
There I was alone with my three good friends Evan, Frank and Mike; parents at work; and my siblings at Grandma’s. It was a nice sunny July day. We were thirteen, and it was the summer of 2009. My dad usually drove his F-150 therefore, the Explorer sat at home all the time. I just happened to know where the extra key was. But I don’t think my parents knew I did. Evan, Frank, Mike, and I took a joyride in the back field. On our way out there we were going about 70 mph; we were doing doughnuts and just being young, stupid, and having fun. I knew Dad would never know. He never goes back there, and I washed the car so there was no mud on it. Dad just put new tires on it so I made sure they were completely unblemished. I even put the key back in the exact same spot and told everyone not to say a thing. It was fun because we felt like we were on top of the world. We defiantly were young and stupid but we had a blast and it seemed harmless at the time. The pool guy came to fill the pool with water; he saw we were driving but thought I was old enough so luckily he didn’t say anything. He just finished filling the pool and we wanted to go swimming. Mom told us not to before she left that morning but, since when do we listen? Luckily, I had enough swimming gear for everyone, and we all jumped in together. It was so cold; we were freezing. We had no idea what we were thinking at all. We hid all our swimming gear and then just watched movies until mom got home. Mom and I took Evan and Frank home, and Mike was going to stay another night at my house. Then, dad came home and took a ride on the dirt bike—discovering what we had done. Needless to say, Mike went home that night, and I was grounded for what seemed to be forever and a day.
