The Night in the Jungle
On May the seventh of 2019 my friends and I went to a camp. It was organized by Foliage outdoors. The camp was a wildlife camp to Panna tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
Today I am going to talk about the night safari we experienced at that camp.
It was one of the darker nights. The moon was crescent, my jeep and 3 other jeeps were trying to find the nocturnal animals. But what we were really after was the leopard. Finding the sly beast wasn’t that easy though. His soft paws made no noise at all. His ability to climb on trees and sit stealthily made it even harder. It was scary in the jungle, even a crackle of a twig made us have Goosebumps. The uneven roads and the ghostly trees scared the hell out of us.
Alas! We weren’t able to find the leopard but there was something else I saw that night. It wasn’t any animal or tree, but was a different point of view. It is not the final goal we are looking for in a story, or else the story would have been “we went on a trip and saw a leopard”. It is about the path which takes us to that goal. The steps we climb; each one. This is what fascinated me that night and I was happy we didn’t see the leopard. Because truly from the heart, I did not want that hunt to end…
