During the long journey of everyone’s life, each of us has a dream. To achieve this, we set our goals and work hard. We have our own ambitions and goals we want to accomplish, with strong beliefs in success after hard work.

Edison is a good example. He successfully invented the electric lights and made great contributions to the world. When he was young, he told his mother that he wanted to be a famous inventor. To actualize this, his mother helped him a lot. Although Edison’s life was very hard, he never gave up. He practised hard and eventually owned more than 2000 inventions during his life, including the gramophone and the movie camera.

Despite Edison’s straightforward path, not everyone will have the same dreams with the passage of the time. The world is changing, and the times are changing too. Not everything is consistent, including dreams.

When I was a child, I had a lofty ideal—to be a dancer and a pianist. I had a great interest in these two arts. In order to achieve my dream, I asked my parents to let me take some courses. Before class began, I would always ask my mum to drive me there early so I could be the first one to arrive. Enjoying all the courses, I had a really delightful time. What’s more, I diligently practiced playing the piano for about an hour every day. After finishing a difficult piece of music, I always felt satisfied and proud. I also enjoyed the moments when I played the piano for someone else, as they praised me and wanted to play it too. In addition, I loved wearing beautiful dresses and taking part in piano competitions. Through my hard practice, I successfully finished the pianist examination of tenth level in grade six.

However, as I grew up, I had fewer time for these activities. I went to school every day, but I was not interested in studying. Because of the large amount of homework on weekends, I no longer had enough time for my hobbies. So, with a heavy heart, I had to give up my hobbies for my study. I lost my dream for a long time.

When I eventually began attending an international school, I experienced a different learning style here. I met encouragement for my interest in the arts, and I enjoyed the opportunities for students to be on stage. I had more free time to practise playing the piano. I finally found my dream again. Now, I want to study abroad and gain admission to good university. I know art is also very popular at board, so I can show my ability to more people. Although I do not know which country I will go to and which university I attend, I will try my best and get a score over 100 in TOEFL to actualize this dream. Although this dream will be hard to achieve, I believe that this goal is not far away. All I have to do is work hard, and then, it will come true.
