Ash MAG
I was ten,
That fateful day
When something fell from the sky
I saw it was white
And flaked like snow
But then something caught my eye
The stuff was almost gray,
And had a dust-like touch
And when it fell upon my cheek,
It didn’t turn to mush
It broke apart
And fell some more
Landing on my sleeve
When poked, it trembled
Just trembled and fell
Apart, with so much ease
Until I was ten,
I didn’t know
That things fell from the sky
Unless they were snow,
Or hail or rain
But those can’t catch my eye
The flake that touched my face that day,
Leaving a scar upon my heart
I realized with horror,
Were two buildings
Falling apart
They tumbled and fell
That fateful day
When ash fell from the sky
