French Plait, Dutch, Patriot, and three strand are all different versions of the very famous French Braid. The French Braid is an easy way to tie back your hair and can be accented with a hard or soft headband of any shape or color. It's a very fun and easy way to show off your own style and a way to add your own spin to it. It's also can be turned elegant and chic at a moments notice and turn from casual to fancy in an instant. It's so incredibly easy that with a little practice you can do it yourself! 

      The first step to creating your own French braid is to gather your supplies and prep your hair. The supplies you will need include: an elastic hair tie, a handheld mirror, a wall mirror, a spray bottle containing water, and your own headband or clip to accent your braid with. To prep your hair, first you need to brush your hair and get all the tangles out of it,  and then run a comb through it for extra smoothness. Then, spray all over hair with the spray bottle so your hair is damp but not completely wet. This will make your braid look better and it will be able to have not have so many stray hairs.

       Secondly, pick three strands one on your right, one on your left, and one in the middle. Then if you've ever done a regular braid it's just like that but you add hair every time you braid it. The first, second, and third times you do that, the key is to have smaller strands at first and then gradually try bigger strands. Your hair at this point should be looking just like a French Braid by now.

        Thirdly, you need to keep braiding your hair until you get to the nape of your neck,and then you start regular braiding it. Some people also secure it right after you stop French Braiding and make it into a ponytail. You can then keep regular braiding it until you run out of hair and then secure it with an elastic hair tie. But always remember that when you secure it, that it needs to have a little "tail" on the end of your braid. You have now completed your French Braid and can move on to the adding your own touch to it now that you know how to do it!
