Dance is my life
The primary medium through which I express myself is dance. I am lucky enough to attend one of the few public schools that offer dance as a class and I am very thankful for this wonderful opportunity to convey my many emotions into the art of movement. I have chosen dance above all other means of self-expression for several reasons, one of which is because over time, I have found that I excel in this area. However, my wholehearted participation is also due to its remarkable therapeutic capabilities. Whenever I become too stressed or begin to doubt my competence in other areas of my life, all I need to do is slip off my shoes, turn on a song that I can connect with and let my body to the talking. Within seconds I am back to myself, comfortable in my body and with renewed confidence, I continue to live life with my head up. Dance is necessary to maintain my fortitude.
I choose to express myself through dance because it contains no limits. There is no point where you can say that you’ve mastered dance. There are always new creative ways to maneuver from one position to the next. Instead, you continue to grow and grow while constantly being inspired by people who possess deep inside them the same intense passion for the arts.
Everyone has their own unique style of dance. Even when two people are given the same piece of choreography, each person instinctively adds their personal twist spawning from whatever they were feeling at the time. In a way, the manner in which you dance is your signature. It’s something you can be remembered by that can never be erased. For these reasons dance will always be a huge part of my life.
