What Could I Not Live Without?
What could I not live without? I sit and stare at my blank laptop screen in a classroom filled with people writing as I ponder this question. It seems impossible to settle on one idea. Should I choose my phone, jewelry, my pillow, or my car? Hundreds of ideas race through my head as I settle not on materialistic items, but on a feeling.
Love. How could one live their life without feeling love? A feeling worth more than the new iphone, a diamond necklace, the softest pillow, and the most expensive car. See, all of these objects can be replaced and restored. But, how could one replace the completeness of experiencing love? A euphoric feeling that is impossible to replicate.
I understand the delightful feeling that can come from new materialistic items. But, those excited feelings dwindle as new items become old and worn. The exhilarating feelings of love never fade over time, they don't become old, and worn.
How does someone experience love? By definition, love is an intense feeling of deep affection. When people hear love they associate it with a feeling between people. But, It doesn't have to come from relationships, family, or even friends. Obviously, they all show love. But, love can be felt from the sunshine hitting your face on a summer afternoon or watching the sunset and letting your mind wander off.
There are many forms and interpretations of love and everybody can interpret them differently.
Some ways I feel love is getting a hug from your long distance boyfriend after going weeks without seeing them. Hearing my parents say they are proud of me after I get a good grade. Coming home from school and watching my dog jump and bark as I open the door. Laying in bed after a long day and relaxing can feel like love.
Is love a stupid response? I ponder this new question as I sit and stare at my laptop screen filled with my feelings. But, I don't care if people think it's stupid, love is the one thing I couldn't live without.
