The Search For A College
As the semester continues it makes me think more and more about what's ahead in life for me. My junior year is coming to an end, and I have to start making an essay to submit to colleges that I like and can hopefully be accepted into. I have always heard college years are your “glory years”, this makes me very excited for college in the future. It starts a whole new chapter in your life, living on your own, meeting new people, working hard to graduate and get a diploma, etc. There are a lot of benefits to college that I can't wait to explore, leading me to a future job pursuing my dream. I am also very excited for summer visits. This is where I will be able to fall in love with a college campus. I have visited 2 colleges so far that have caught my eyes in the best way possible, Indiana University and University of Kentucky. Recently I went up with a friend to stay the weekend with my brother at IU. He took us around the campus, introduced us to his new friends, and showed us a day in his life. When I saw the campus it felt we were surrounded with castles that were all over the place. The cool breeze with side walks packed with students rushing to classes. The campus and environment there is very drawing and the community is great. Although there are some downsides to leaving home and going to college. For example, leaving all of my friends that I have known since childhood and not being able to spend time with my family. I know that me and my family miss my brother more and more each day he is gone at college and I can’t imagine what it will be like when I’m at college. What I learned from him is there are so many cool people out there that I will meet and enjoy spending time with. I was telling him about my worries of finding a good roommate as well and he told me to not go with one of my best friends, because there is always some sort of drama that will be taking place. Rather go with someone I know that I enjoy and will be able to stay neat, not get on my nerves, and stay drama free.
