Does patriotism still mater?
Without patriotism would we still have soldiers to fight for us? Without patriotism would we even need a president or someone to make the rules? Even if there were rules would we follow them? Without patriotism would we still obey the law? Would we still have loyal citizens? Would we still be loyal citizens? Would we still pay our taxes? Would we still agree to go to work to support our country? Well, would we?
Without patriotism would we still hang a flag outside our houses? Would we still recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school or sing the National Anthem at sporting events? Would we even go to school if we didn’t care about our country? Without patriotism would we have a 4th of July parade? Would we honor our veterans on Veteran’s Day? Would we even have veterans without patriotism? Would we still have ceremonies, celebrations, or national holidays honoring our country? Well, would we?
Without patriotism would we sit on our couches and watch the news? Would we still study all about our countries great history? Would we even care? Would we still pick up the trash we see on the street? Would we try to keep our country clean? Without patriotism would we ever fulfill our needs? Would we ever be happy or joyful? Would we even take the time to think about what we could do to strengthen our nation? Well, would we?
Without patriotism would we still try or would we fail because we’ll have nothing to try for? Would we still have a democracy? Would we still have any form of civilized government? Would we have any kind of government at all? Without patriotism would we even try to run the country? Would we even have a country? Without patriotism would we even have a “we”?
