By definition,an American is a person who was born in America and is a citizen of America.What about legal imigrants? My great grandfather came here from Italy in the late 1800's. He became a citizen, learned English and got a steady job and eventually raised a family.Though he was full blood Italian, he had the American state of mind that you could be what you wanted to be if you worked really hard at it. You could be that best you could be at whatever you did. A teacher I had once said that unless we are full blood Native American,we are all imigrants in a way. So, what is an American? That is the million dollar question.
