Misunderstood

In the name of Allah here I begin
I'd like to tell you about my religion

Its being misunderstood and under attack
Media and newspapers choose to ignore the facts

A Muslim by name may not be a Muslim at heart.
As a our duty in humanity we must do our part.

To the poor we give, we show compassion
Loving thy neighbor should be our passion

We must give in charity as an obligation
As Muslims we must live up to the expectation

We are similar to Judaism and Christianity
To respect the rights of all humanity

Terrorists give a false representation
Basing their values on misinterpretation

If Islam was taking away your liberty
Then why are there so many converts in this country

After 9/11 converts increased, which is so hard to believe
But people picked up the Quran and decided to read

Amazed and dazzled by this beautiful book
Into the religion of Islam they got a detailed look

So my friends I would like for you to see
My religion is peaceful and bomb free.

This poem shows how many people don’t like people that are not of their kind. It not only shows how people feel about religion, but other views such as prejudice and homosexuality. I love this poem because it actually can slap people in the face, and make them realize how all people are the same no matter what their religion, sexuality, or color is. Thanks for sharing these poem with me, because it makes me share my views more openly.

wow, I agree with pinksage33. I like it a lot. I keep trying to tell my friends that they shouldn't judge a religion based on something a small group has done. It's unfair that when they see a Muslim they suddenly act afraid and or mean. It's not right for them to do that. Great poem, keep writing!
