Constitutional rights mean nothing unless enforced.
Scary, right?
To those who care…it should be.
Civil Rights aren’t a choice. They are laws.
I’m no zealot.
But I’m aware.
Aware of life.
Aware of laws.
Aware of my Self-Respect.
I won’t willingly stand in line, breathalyzer on my face, violated in 8 ways, to humor the administrators.
For, I have done nothing wrong.
So I won’t be treated like I have.
All for a school dance?
Not a chance.
Others’ decisions are their own. Let them choose their path. Let them accept responsibility.
Don’t pretend mine is the same…
Because I’m 17.
Well, I’m 17 years stronger than that.
Treat me accordingly…
Or count me out.
