Invisible Damage
"Invisible Damage" by Mikhayla Dunaj is an article about a personal experience with an abusive relationship she was in. The sincere article talks about how Mikhayla didn't know she was in an abusive relationship until it was a bit too late and she had experienced all of its harmful effects.
She writes: "I lay in bed waiting for a text, praying it would read 'I shouldn't treat you that way.' It never came..." This is the unfortunate reality to many relationships consisting of domestic violence. Even if the abuser apologizes which most of the time they don't, it is usually not sincere. If the person started out abusing you, they are very unlikely to ever stop.
This piece sends out a strong message to teenagers to watch out for the warning signs of domestic violence. This amazingly well-written and moving article has inspired me to help and reach out to ones currently experiencing unhealthy relationships.
