Now
Now
The time of shrubbery has passed
The past of memories is upon us
It is for us to begin a new hour
It is this hour that must be our future.
If it is true
that there is power in words
listen to these words.
Do not mistake their power.
If it is true
that we learn from history
that humankind does not learn
then this is our final hour.
Let us instead learn
from the now
Let us listen to the ancient teachings
of our ancestors
Let us learn from them
a deeper respect for the land
an awareness of our effect on the whole
a realization of the fragility of now.
