Who Knew
She's watched the clouds roll in all day
They stay in the sky but it won't rain
She sits in the corner of her desk
She faces away from everybody else
Never was one for making a scene
Shy and beautiful, just turned fifteen
Don't walk away, you see what they do
Don't be the one wondering "who knew?"
Who knew they called her as she walked the door
Shouting her name and pushing her to the floor
Who knew they spit on her shoes and kicked at her feet
She tripped and she fell on her knees
Who knew she's never said anything but "Sorry"
She asks for a mask when she wants an army
She's walking down the street to her house
And the overpass isn't looking too bad
He listens to the teachers from the front row
They laugh from behind him but he knows
He tries to keep to himself as much as he can
Never had anyone to understand
He looks a little different but he's not mean
Doctor's tell him it's a miracle he's made it to fourteen
Don't walk away, when you can pull him through
Don't be the one wondering "who knew?"
Who knew he can't walk the halls with his head up
He can't stop the abuse once it's begun
Who knew they shoved him in lockers and stole his clothes
And he tried to tell someone but still no one knows
Who knew he just wants someone to call a friend
He wants to be strong not just pretend
He cries to himself as he writes the note
No one will stop him if no one's home
Who knew the boy from next door found his brother's gun
He just wanted to stop the hurting for once
