THE KNOCK

Setting: Maddie, Andrea and Ciara are all sitting around a table studying for finals.

Andrea: Do you have the answer to number 57?
Ciara: No, I skipped that one.
Andrea: Do you have it Maddie?
Maddie: Uhmmm I’m on number 3…
Ciara: Really Maddie…
(Maddie shrugs her shoulders and continues writing.)
Suddenly someone knocks on the door.
Ciara: Who is knocking on the door this late?
Maddie: Did someone order pizza?
Andrea: You can’t order pizza this late….
Ciara: Is someone actually going to open the door? Andrea! You should open the door!
Andrea; No way! This isnt even my house!
Maddie: I’ll do it!!!
Maddie opens the door to find no one there.
Andrea: Who was it?
Maddie: No one was there!
They all went back to studying. Then suddenly, Ciara noticed something moving in the window.
Ciara: What was that?
Andrea: What was what ciara? (looking confused)
Ciara: I just saw something moving in the window.
Maddie: I’m sure it was nothing.
Ciara: Someone go out there and check it out.
Andrea: I’m not doing that!
Maddie: No way I’m not going out there!
Another knock is heard on the door.
Maddie: Guys seriously stop playing pranks this is actually scaring me.
Ciara: Andrea, are you playing a prank on us?
Andrea: No!
A bloody red handprint appears on the back door.
Andrea: Guys! Look at the back door!
Maddie; Oh my God! Where did that come from?
(footsteps)
Ciara: I have no idea……… Do you hear footsteps upstairs?
Andrea: Yes….
Maddie: Wait that could be my cats!
Ciara:no… The cats are right here… Someone is in the house.
Maddie: What should we do?
Andrea: Hide!!! they are gonna come down here and kill us! (andrea says freaking out)
Ciara: Stop yelling! Your yelling is gonna make them hear us and then they will come down and kill us for sure!
Maddie: Okay okay, everyone calm down. We are all a little tired from studying and our minds are probably playing tricks on us. Let’s stay calm and watch a movie or something.
Ciara: You’re right. I’m sure we are all over reacting and just need to calm down a little.
Andrea: I still don’t have the answer to 57.
Ciara: Don’t worry about that right now. I seriously think we should watch a movie and relax for a while.
They all sit on the couch while Maddie browses Netflix for something to watch.
Ciara: That movie looks good.
Andrea: Saw it.
Maddie: Ooo we should watch a scary movie!
Ciara: Do you really think that’s appropriate considering what just happened?
Maddie: You're right. What about a comedy?
(Footsteps are heard again.)
Andrea: Okay I swear those are getting closer.
Maddie: What about a documentary?
(Maddie says nervously trying to ignore the footsteps.)
(Footsteps are heard again. They are getting louder.)
Ciara: Those footsteps ARE getting close.
(The footsteps are louder and seem like they are in the front room.)
As the footsteps get near the living room and a shadow gets closer and closer. Ciara wakes up in front of the tv.
Ciara: Guys! I just had a dream that we were actually studying for finals! How crazy is that?

Then, there was a knock at the door.
