Once upon a time, in a distant land far away, there lived a tribe of people. Among this tribe was a handsome, young man named Thaddeus. Thaddeus was loved by all of the people in the tribe, not to mention he was the leader’s only son. His only setback though was that he was extremely vain and he cared more about himself than anyone else in the tribe. All day long all he heard was compliments about his wavy, black hair and perfect hunting technique. However, Thaddeus was a very creative young man and because of his vanity, he became very superstitious and sometimes even convinced himself that these thoughts were real.

Once, as Thaddeus was walking along with his friend, Tally, his immense imagination got the best of him.
“Wow, Tally. Look at the moon. Isn’t she beautiful?”
Tally, a short, stocky young man looked up at the moon and glanced at Thaddeus. “She’? The moon isn’t a female, you do know that right?” inquired Tally. Thaddeus gave him a disgusted look.
“There is a woman in the moon, Tally. She talks to me when there is a full moon. I have not met her yet, although I plan to later tonight when the moon is actually full.”
His starry eyes sparkled in to space. Tally glanced awkwardly over at Thaddeus. “Uhh… Let’s go back to the tribe now; we’ve strayed far from them.” suggested Tally awkwardly. Thaddeus grumbled and narrowed his eyes in annoyance. He nodded and sighed and the two people slowly wandered back to the herd.
Later that night, Tally woke up to the sound of Thaddeus stumbling around toward the cliff where the moon was most the visible. Tally quietly followed him to the cliff. Narceus began talking to the moon. “He gets more insane each day….” thought Tally, grimacing. He tried to pick up bits and pieces of what Thaddeus was saying. It was hard to interpret the mumbling, but it sounded like his dear friend was going to commit suicide by jumping off the cliff! Tally guessed it had something to do with the moon, so he ran as if there were wings on his feet back to the tribe and told the leader.
“Leader, I am convinced that tonight Thaddeus is going to try to jump off the cliff and commit suicide to ‘be one with the moon!”
“Silence, Tally. We’ll go talk to him.” muttered the leader sleepily. “The vain, naïve boy...” he added. The two men, one young and one old, set off towards the cliff.
They didn’t come far when they came across Thaddeus slowly backing up towards Tally and the leader. “Thaddeus! What in the world are you doing?” shouted the leader. Thaddeus looked at him with a crazed look in his eyes. He said nothing and leapt off the cliff. The leader shouted in rage, and in his fury, he leapt after the young man. They both fell to their demise.
Tally ran back to the tribe and told them all about what had happened. To this day, in the tribe, the people say that they can see a man in the moon, watching them live peacefully.
