Words slide off the lead,
creating permanent marks;
writer's secret code.
~Lindsey O'Connell

The tears poured off her eyelids; slid down her cheeks; fell to the floor. Slowly she sank to the ground, trembling slightly. Her breath came in deep sobs, wracking her chest. She barely had enough air. She did not hear the soft footfalls coming ever closer. She did not see him as he sat down next to her. She did, however, feel as his arm wrapped around her shoulders. Turning slightly, the girl buried her face in his shoulder. Her friend held her tighter, resting his head in her soft chestnut curls.

The two of them sat that way for what felt like hours; the girl sobbing loudly on the boy’s shoulder, the boy holding her quietly, steadfastly. Finally, the girl released her last tear. She looked up at the boy, eyes red from crying, cheeks flushed. He turned to her, a small crooked smile on his lips. To the girl’s surprise, tears were slipping down his face as well. “Why are you crying?” she asked softly, voice cracking. The boy considered the question for a second.

“I am crying because you are crying,” he replied truthfully as yet another tear trickled down his handsome face. His smile was still there, unwavering.

The girl stared at him with wide eyes. He stared back at her. A chill like an electric current flowed through both of them. The air around them tingled with static. Slowly, as if pulled by some invisible force, the two teenagers moved closer. Their faces were within a hair’s breath of each other’s. “Why me?” she whispered. “Why did you choose me?” Her eyes darted back and forth, looking for an answer written on his face. “You are the only one who’s real. The only one out of all those girls who knows what it means to truly love someone. Even though he broke your heart, you just keep going. I like that. I think… I think I may even love that.”

His eyes gleamed with a passion long suppressed. “I think I may love you.” His sweet breath lingered on her lips. The girl’s heart began to beat frantically, as if trying to keep up with her rapidly changing emotions. “I think I may love you too,” she admitted.

Without meaning to, the girl shut her eyes. The two leaned even closer, closing the gap between them. His soft lips pressed against hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and his arms coiled around her waist. The kiss deepened.

Gently, they pulled apart. Both were smiling softly. “Thank you,” the girl said under her breath, so quiet that the boy sitting right next to her wasn’t sure he had heard her at first.

“For what?” She stared deeply into his eyes. He held her gaze, reciprocating the intensity. “For giving me a reason to live again. For saving me from falling.”

“Anytime. Thank you, too. Thanks for letting me in. Thanks for not pushing me away.”

At the same time, the two teenagers said, “I love you,” sealing their fate.

The two leaned in closer, their foreheads, then lips, pressing against the other’s.

This was sooo absolutely beautiful. I am a total sucker for good romance stories, and this one falls into that category. You seem like a VERY talented person and I hope you keep writing more and more. Maybe, because you seem like you know what you're doing, you could read some of my stuff and give me some feedback. And you can be totally picky too :) Anyways, simply breathtaking!

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. But if you can overcome the sacrifice and make it your own, you will gain an irreplaceable Fullmetal heart."- Edward Elric

That was a very well-written story. I love the opening to it; very descriptive and well-done. I also liked the subtle, yet obvious, affection, between them, and the theme of turning to a best friend after a heartbreak. The thing I like most, though, is that you kept them nameless. It shows that you don't have to have an identity to love someone.

Just, overall, very sweet!

Keep writing!

Oh wow that really does stink about how you can't go on a date till you're 17.... And it sounds like you really wanted to go!! Maybe you could try going with a small group sometime? That way the two of you can have a chance to hang out together without it technically being called a date (I know, going with more people there isnt particuarlly the best option, but its a way). And about the journal--do you have a good hiding spot for it? My sister's the same way, so I've had to find some good hiding spots before. Since its a journal, maybe you could take off the cover of a book and place it around the journal, and then hide it in the bookcase. Then it just looks like a normal book! :) hope this helps!

"How could an Alice girl like me,
Love a Hatter as mad as you?"

i know, my family does love me but i want to be loved by ppl outside of my family like u said, my mom is making me write these storys ofmy life in a journal now. uggghhhh i hate it cuz if my lil sister finds it then she's either going to throw it in our fire place or show it to my crush, eric. sry if these words are spelled wrong or something but i can hardly see the key board it's like almost midnight here in Wisconsin. :( i hate it when it's dark out it makes everything too dark and i'm always tripping over my lil sis's things on the floor. V.V -she is such a slobb.

so i went to a volly ball game with eric and a bunch of other friends, and his sister comes up to me and asks if i want to see the last air bender with eric at the movies (we both love anime and manga btw) so i say yes and she goes up to eric and tells him i want to go out with him. i was so embarrassed and then he emailed me yesterday and asked if i did want to go out with him to the movies i said yes, but then my mom came behind me and started reading the email, then she said i couldn't go on a date with a boy till i'm 17, and right now i'm 14, :,( this sux. cuz i rly wanted to go; then she push me out of the chair and started typing something; i read what she sent later that day and this is what she typed,"Dear Eric, I am anoyed that you would ask my daughter out on a date to the movies, if you rly love her that much then you can wait till she is 17 to ask her to be your girlfriend. Hannah's mother, Amanda."

god i was sooo embarrassed that i never want to be out in public with my mom again, especially aroud eric with her.

Yeah, while it CAN be awkward talking to your mom sometimes, its always good to have someone you trust to talk to. And I know the feeling when you really need to feel loved by someone outside your family! I felt the same way for a while not too long ago, but I've made some really amazing friends and they've helped me through pretty much everything! Even though none of them know just how much they mean, I couldn't get by without them :3 Having someone out of the family who loves you for you is really one of the best feelings ever! :D It empowers us to do everything. So if you don't find a boyfriend soon, you can still find friends who love you just as much and make you feel happy! Its funny cuz everything you've said, I have or do feel the same way XD And I wish you the very best!!!!!! :3 And I am very happy that you like my story so much, thank you! :D
