Brynn
Brynn is an 9 year old girl, tall with long straight blonde hair. She lives in an apartment with her dad, her mom died from a car accident 4 years ago. All tho she still remembers her mom, short and she smelt of sweet roses. Her dad however smells of gas and car oil, not as pleasing but it doesn't mind her that much, when she smells it when he walks through the door she gets quite happy, because he has come home from a long hard day at his job, a job that he loves doing.
“Ohh! What’s in that bag?” Brynn asked as her dad took off his working gloves,
“It’s a surprise, go up stairs and take your bath while I fix dinner.” Brynn takes her bath and brushes her hair, she goes back downstairs to eat dinner,
“Now the surprise...” she insists.
“yup,” her dad replies while opening the bag. As he opens the bag her eyes got wider, brynn loved surprises especially good one's. It’s a new pair of dance shoes, brynn was a really good ballet dancer, but she also loved jazz, jazz is her favorite. It is challenging for her dad to keep up with her dance tuition, he can barely afford it because he is a single parent….In the long run he figures it out, he bought the shoes so she can continue dancing, her teacher told her she will not be able continue until she got a new pair, her old one's have holes and they don't work properly. They are strict because it is competitive, and they have a competition next week.
“Thanks dad!” She shouts while giving him a hug. She runs upstairs to try them on, she loves them and they fit perfectly. She can continue dance for tomorrow. After an hour of admiring her new dancing shoes, she finally went to bed, she could not help but to think how she was going to beat serena and get first place with her new shoes. Serena is a girl that dances with Brynn but brynn does not like to call her style of, “dancing,” real, “dancing,”because she hates serena, she says this because she is always so snotty to brynn, and brynn does not like that. It seems kind of like she might envy what Brynn has going on in her life. Brynn never thought of it like that because she feels there is nothing to envy about her.The following morning, She gets up for school with no problem, while knowing she has those new fancy dance shoes that she is so sure and positive she is going to win that first place in. School was a iffy, she could not stop thinking about how she was going go across the stage so Fierce and strong and how well she was going to pull of that ariel. The following days have been ok, It’s two days before the competition, so every day she comes home from school she practices. Her dad is little worried about how serious she takes this.
“geez you're rehearsing again?” her dad complained,
“yup I sure am,” said proudly, “mom would proud of me if I won.” And right after she said that she could not help but to think about her mom and how much she missed her.
“she sure would be proud… I am already proud of you Byn.” Byn was a nickname her mom gave to her before her mom died because as a baby Brynn would always hop into the laundry bin and her mom would always have to get her out, and also because it kinda rhymes with brynn.
It’s 2 hours until the competition, she is backstage changing and the sparkles from her head band is getting in her hair, its kinda annoying but she just deals with it. The dances have started and she does not see her dad in the audience, she really wants him to be out there. He has told her before that he might not can afford the tickets to get in, but Brynn had hope that he would be their. When it was two dances from brynns she already new her dad was not going to be be able to make it. But that did not stop brynn from wanting to do her best on stage for her mom.
“Hey brynn!” Serena said with a very evil smile, Serena tends to act like she never does anything wrong, but Brynn just plays along with it as if she does not know what serena is trying to do.
“Oh hey Serena, isn't your dance next?” Brynn asked,
“Yup it sure is, and i'm not scared one bit,” she brags, “My mom is right there in the front row, Is there anyone here for you?” She knows that brynns dad usually comes to every competition if he can afford it. Which he couldn't this time because he had to buy Brynn new dancing shoes. When serena goes on stage she does ok In brynn’s eyes, brynn still feels like she is nowhere near as good as her. As serena leaves the stage it is now time for Brynns dance, her palms are sweating but she is not going to back down.
“Entering is contestant number seventy two, with a jazz solo,” The host shouts. Brynn walks on stage gets into her first position, the music starts to play. She does great, but it’s time for her ariel, she is running she feels the wind on her stomach, then she flips and she froze. She did not land her ariel, it hurt really bad, but she could not stop she had to keep going, She gets up and continues her dance. At that point she thought she was going to burst into tears on stage. Brynn got through it, when she got off stage she was crying very very loudly, she was panicking. Thankfully her dance teacher got her together for the awards, she goes back on stage to hear what place she got along with Serena.
“4th place goes to…” Brynn felt her stomach drop,
“Brianna beck! Good job Brianna!” he screams, “3rd place goes to Brynn Johnson! Good job Brynn.” Brynn felt like her world was over, not only did she get 3rd but serena got 2nd. At the end of the show she was crying again and her dance teacher told her,
“Brynn it’s ok, you have the choice not to continue or if you want to keep going what's your choice,” she said firmly. Brynn didn't really know how to answer that, she was so mad she had lost, giving up was a thought that ran across her mind,
“I... I… am going to continue and I will win next time, and if I don't I will try again and again untill I win.”
“That's right!” Her teacher yelped, and that's exactly what Brynn did.

I wrote this story because I am a dancer and I love to do it, and there is always that one person in your life that is mean to you. I also do not have much money so dance tuition is a struggle.
