Dangerous World
Sam was walking home from the movie theater by himself. He had just finished watching “Halloween”. He thought it was a good movie. Stepping on orange crisp leaves and the cold wind blowing around him, he pulled up his jacket and put his hoodie up.
“Three more blocks to go,” he sighed to himself. He entered the dark part of a neighborhood.
“Man, I really shouldn't have watched that scary movie,” he said to himself. He thought he heard something behind him. He turned around and saw nothing.
“It's probably nothing. I'm just letting that movie get to me,” he thought to himself. He continued walking. He heard more rustling. When he turned around again, two men wearing masks pulled a bag over his head. Sam struggled to break free.
“Hey! Let go of me!” yelled Sam
“Shut up kid,” his captor growled. Sam continued trying to break free. Suddenly, he felt a quick sharp pain on the side of his head.

Later, Sam woke up with a big headache. He felt groggy. He hear his captors talking but couldn't hear about what. Sam sat up. It was pitch black. He realized he was in a car. The car came to a stop. The trunk opened and Sam felt himself being dragged into a building. The bag was lifted off his head. Once his eyes adjusted, he was shocked to see what was inside.
There were other people. Some of them were blindfolded. All of them were gagged and tied up. In the other side of the building, Sam could hear screaming. He looked down and the floor was covered with mud and he could make out what seemed to be dried up blood. Suddenly he is grabbed from behind, strong hands dragging him. A man with a mask began tying him, propping him on a hook by his hands, and placed a gag around Sam’s mouth. Sam began to squirm. The man in the mask pulled out a long blade. He began walking towards Sam. Screams began echoing throughout the building. Sam passed out from the pain.

Sam awoke a few hours later, to the sound of screaming.
“How long has it been?” he wondered. Sam felt a sharp pain in his stomach. He looked down. He had multiple lacerations, some of which were still bleeding, and bruises.
“How long you been here?” asked a gruff voice beside him.
“I don't know. What about you?” Sam replied.
“Feels like a little over two months. I can't be too sure,” the stranger responded.
In the dark, Sam couldn't see very well. He strained his eyes and they started to adjust to the dark. He began looking at the stranger. He was an old man. He had more cuts on him than Sam. Months of cuts.
“I was walking home from the movies when a couple of guys in masks attacked me and knocked me out. Next thing I know, I got a throbbing headache and I'm in the back of a car. What happened to you?” asked Sam.
“Heh, my mind’s still fuzzy on that. I had just left the bar. I was trying to wave down a taxi. A car pulled up to me and asked me something quietly . I went closer to hear what he was saying. Before I know it, I got clubbed in the back of my head and woke up here. Shoulda known better than to fall for that old trick,” he sighed.
Sam asked, “What's going on here? Why are they doing this to us?”
“Beats me,” the stranger replied, “But one thing I know is that everybody does something for a reason. Just not sure what their plan is. Seems like a grand one.
“If you ask me, I think they're gonna do something big,” remarked Sam.
Oh, no doubt about that. I just don't know what,” replied the stranger.
“Has anyone ever tried to get out of here?” asked Sam.
“Some,” replied the stranger.
“What happened to them?” he asked.
“Don't know. I never saw them again,” said the stranger. Sam began wondering what they were up to. A masked man passed by them. They fell silent. It was right then that Sam decided to escape.
Later that night, when all the guards stopped patrolling, Sam began trying to loosen the rope. After trying for a while, he gave up. He began to lose all hope until he noticed a little ledge behind him. Sam started swinging himself. His feet latched onto the ledge, he stood up and pulled his hands over the hook. He jumped down softly.
“Good luck,” whispered the stranger.
“Thanks,” Sam whispered back.
Sam began sneaking silently towards the door. He leaned towards the door to check if anyone was outside. When he didn't hear anything, he grabbed the door handle, yanked it open, and started sprinting. He heard yelling behind him.
It was cold outside. Sam was too hopped up on adrenaline to stop. He started looking for a nearby place to contact police. After running for what seemed like eternity, he spotted lights. He began running towards them. As he was running, he saw, out of the corner of his eye, a black SUV hurtling towards him. Sam ran out of the way and rolled down a hill. He got up and realized he was closer to the lights. The lights turned out to be a plaza. He ran inside one of the stores.
“I need to call the police!” Sam said quickly to an employee.
After the police arrived, Sam explained what had happened and decided to show them where he was being held. They eventually found the place. Sam hopped out of the car. He ran over to the door and pulled it open. He was shocked to see the inside. Everything was gone. Sam was baffled.
“There were other people here! Where did they go?” exclaimed Sam. The police started investigating the building.
Sam began thinking out loud: “Where did they go? Where is everybody?”
