I open my laptop, turn it on, and type in my password. I click the chrome browser and type twitter. With a smile on my face  quickly log in, put some music on, and message

Ciara. Parents always say never to talk to people online, but honestly it was the best decision of my life. Ciara is like my only friend and I really don’t mind that. Ciara lives in  Ohio, but i live in the U.K. My parents don’t know about her because if they did, they would take away my computer forever! I don’t know what she looks like, but i’ve sent pictures of myself to her.
“Hiiiiiiii bae,” I type quickly on the keys. Minutes later I hear a ding. My head quickly pops up from my homework to read the message.
“Hey, Cate!! Missed u a ton, how was ur day or night or whatever time it is there.” I giggle and type back “Lol it was fine how was urs?” “Oh pretty good just glad I get to talk to u. ;)” Before I answer back Ciara quickly messages me again. “Did you ask ur parents if u can meet me?”
“Dammit,” I mumble under my breath. My parents would never let me meet someone that I met online.
“Uh, no sorry I haven’t. I’ll ask tonight, I promise.” “Ok well I gtg gurl! Bye!”
I slowly creep my way down the stairs, getting more anxious every step I took.
     “Hey,” I mumbled.
“Hey baby girl,” my mom exclaims. “What do you need?”
“Well I was wondering if you could take me to the mall tomorrow.”
“Why dear? You went shopping yesterday,” my dad says staring blankly at me.
“Um, I want to meet a friend there.” I stutter pulling on a loose string on my hoodie. “Oh, who?”
“Her names Ciara, I met her on Twitter.” I spit out quickly. “What?” My dad says his voice getting louder. “WHY ARE YOU EVEN TALKING TO PEOPLE ONLINE?” my mom says close to yelling.
“I-I uh-” instead of finishing my sentence I ran upstairs. I had to message Ciara before my parents took away my computer.
“Um, my parents said no, but i will get to the mall tomorrow so please still go!” My hands shake as I type each word. I slam my computer shut right as my parents whip my door open. “Give me that!” My mom howls. I slowly grab the computer by the sides and hand it to my mom.
“You’re grounded! No computer or electronics for 6 months.”
“Ugh.” I sigh and fall back on my bed as my parents leave my room and proceed to slam my door. I lay on my bed till I fall asleep.
The streak of light coming through my window wakes me up. I open my eyes, sigh, and roll over to look at my alarm clock. 7:50 A.M. Ciara was going to be at the mall at 7:00 P.M. and there was no way I was going to miss it. I sluggishly walk into the shower and wash up.
“What to wear,” I say to myself. My pajamas look the most appealing. After changing I sit down on my bed.
“What to do, what to do.” I grab a book off the shelf and open the cover. This should do for a few hours. I start to feel tired again so I grab a snack and go to bed. I wake up to my parents arguing.
“What do you mean you can’t get into the account?”
     “It’s not the usual password!”
I roll over to see my alarm clock. “6:12,” I mumble. I had about an hour to make a plan on how I was going to get to the mall. I would need to be quiet. Luckily, our alarm system is temporarily broken and we have a one story house.
It is finally 7:00. I slowly and quietly open my window and pop the guard out. “Ok, I'm out, that’s progress.” I think, my mind racing. I run two blocks down to my older friend Angelica’s house. She’s a troublemaker, but she has a car.
My hand goes up to knock on the door, but right before I knock the door swings open.
“Heyyyyy,” Angelica exclaims, her voice slurred, obviously drunk.
“Hey can you drive me to the mall?”
“Yeah, anything for the youngster.” She proceeds to fall out the door onto me, hitting her purple ponytail onto my face.
“Sorry about that,” Angelica says giggling non-stop. She slides into the driver's seat and I slide in on the opposite side. Angelica presses the key into the ignition and we’re off.
     Soon enough we are there.
“I’ll stay in the parking lot, ok kid?” Angelica says poking at her pocket to find a box of cigarettes.
“Okay,” I say turning and walking fast towards the building.
“She said to meet at the smoothie bar,” I go over in my head, my heart beating faster and faster.
     “Cate!” An unfamiliar voice calls.
     My head flings around. “Ciara?”
