Help. I thought. My feet moved in front of me, I didn’t care where they took me, I had never cared. Help. My mind whizzed, I was drowning in my own guilt. Silence is deafening in my ears as I step forth, to the edge of the bridge. Tears stained my cheeks, black from my makeup. Help. I step up, on the edge, and look down. Yes, go, jump. No one will care when you’re gone. My depression whispered into my head. My heart jumped to my throat, gagging me. Yes, go, jump. No one will care when you’re gone. Louder this time. Yes, go, jump. No one will care when you’re gone. YES, GO, JUMP. NO ONE WILL CARE WHEN YOU’RE GONE. Depression screamed at me now. Heart pounding, venomous rage exploding inside me. I was angry. Angry at the world; angry at me. I stepped forward, letting momentum slip me away. The freezing waves reach up to swallow me whole. Friendly, but menacing. Sweet, but salty. All at the same time. The air whips my hair around, smacking me as if I did something wrong. You did. Depression whispers. I squeeze my eyes shut as I…

I wrote this when I was going through a rough point in my life, where I was depressed and suicidal. I'm better now, I promise.
