forever home
The verdict was in… she was guilty. The whole courtroom sighed of relief, almost as they could breathe again. No one was sad, not even the defendant Reese. Reese had an obscene amount of evidence against her, she knew this was coming, life in prison. People started shuffling out of the courtroom going on with their lives, as Reese walked out of the courtroom, her life was over.
She killed her 3 siblings, all for the money. Reese’s parents died 6 months ago and they left with no living will, they also left behind 3 million. The kids decided to split it equally, but Reese thought differently. She wanted more, she thought it was only fair because she was the youngest and had the least amount of time with her parents. When her siblings disagreed, she killed them. She was only caught because of her own boyfriend.
The cell door slammed behind her as she walked into her forever home. She layed on her bed, thinking, thinking about what she would have done differently, to not get caught. She remembers that night so clearly. She sprinted over to her brother's house first. He lived alone so he would be the easiest. She simply walked in and shot him. Because it was Reese’s first time shooting a gun, her aim was a little off. Pow! Pow! Pow! She had to shoot him 3 times. Before she left, she poured herself a glass of wine, something to take the edge off. That was her first mistake. She started to become paranoid, she believed the walls were talking to her, moving in closer and closer, convincing her to continue her spree.
Anger, jealousy, annoyance. She was running out of time. She could see the sun wanting to peek into the distance. She furiously drove to her other sister’s house. Shot her as fast as she could and ran out. She knew that it would have woken up her sister’s husband and kid. A part of her started to feel bad for killing Monica. She had a daughter, but Reese needed the money. The lawyer would have to give her all the money if she was the only living daughter of her parents.
The summer sun sprinted over the horizon. Reese was in a race to kill her last sister. Her car engine was awake and fresh ready for a marathon. She got to her sister's house in record time: 5 minutes. When she arrived her sister was stretching on the porch getting ready for a morning run. What a silly girl. Was the first thing that came to Reese’s head.
“Hey Reese, want to go running with me?” she asked.
“Sure.”
They started their light jog down the street, but before they could turn the corner, Reese shot her. She collapsed, hitting her head on the curb. This was Rees’s second mistake. She forgot about the technology that existed, the Ring doorbells. When she rewatched the video in court, she thought about how stupid she was, sloppy.
