I am belieber and forever belieber
“Baby, baby, baby, oh, I thought you’d always be mine.” Anybody could sing these lyrics, but no one could ever do it as well as Justin Bieber. Every time I hear a Justin Bieber song on the radio, I find myself singing along with a smile on my face. Although he is worshiped for his good looks and amazing voice, Justin has much more to offer his fans. Justin Bieber is my hero because he is a successful pop star and an inspiring person. Yes, Justin Bieber may be one of the most popular pop singers at the moment, but he tries to be a normal kid, works hard, and shares his wealth with people in need. Those are just some of the reasons that the pop star Justin Bieber is my hero.
The first thing that impresses me about Justin Bieber is that although he is extremely famous, under all that fame there is still a real person who cares deeply about his friends and family. Even though Justin’s two best friends and most of his family live in Canada, he tries to see them as often as he can. He tries to at least take off one day a week to just hang out with friends and family and play basketball and video games. Also, even though Justin is a huge star, he still lives under his mothers rules. For example if Justin misses his curfew, his mother, Pattie Malette, will take away Justin’s phone or laptop for a few days. Many may think he gets to do whatever he wants whenever he wants, however, Justin’s mother treats him how any other 16 year-old boy would be treated. Justin is also a real person because he respects everybody around him, from his manager, to his bodyguard, to his band, everyone. Some pop stars may think the people around them are supposed to be their servants, but Justin respects his staff and understands that everyone around him does their best to help him. For example, if Justin has a bad day, he might go to his manager, Scooter, to resolve his problems. Also, Justin respects his fans because he understands that he would not be where he is today without them. In fact, he tweets to his fans every day so they know what he’s up to. Many may think Justin is a spoiled pop star, but he is really down to earth.
Justin’s willingness to work hard keeps him grounded and is another one of his characteristics that appeals to me. People may think Justin Bieber became a pop star overnight, but he has worked very hard to get where he is today. I find Justin’s dedication and solid work ethic inspiring. In an example of his industriousness, Justin started posting videos of himself singing on YouTube so family members who couldn’t be at his singing competitions could see him. He never imagined he would become an Internet sensation. After a few hundred views, he began to upload himself singing covers, including his most popular video, “With You,” by Chris Brown. After a few months of millions of views, an agent named Scooter Brown contacted Justin about a record deal. Justin’s mother was a little skeptical of this man, but one day she called him from a private number. After talking to Scooter for four hours, Pattie told Justin they were going to fly to Atlanta to meet Scooter and consider signing a record deal. Even with a big record deal today, Justin continues to work very hard. For example, he schedules concerts all over the world and performs even if he is sick because he cares so much about his fans. Perhaps most inspiring to me is the fact that Justin taught himself to play the drums, guitar, piano, and trumpet. I admire the talent and dedication it takes to learn how to play an instrument and it is impressing that Justin learned to play all these instruments without a teacher. Clearly, Justin’s hard work has paid off. He won four American Music Association (AMA) awards, sells out concerts all over the world, and makes millions of dollars.
The final reason I admire Justin Bieber is the most important. Unlike many millionaire pop stars, Justin is happy to share with people in need and donates his wealth in many ways. The most personal way Justin shares his wealth is by taking time off from his busy schedule to visit children’s hospitals. He visits multiple patients and tells them how brave they are for fighting through their illnesses. Another way Justin shares his wealth is donating a large portion of the profits from his latest CD, “My World Acoustic,” to a children’s hospital. Finally, Justin understands the needs of poor people in his community and does what he can to help. Justin feels responsible for helping others because he was poor as a child. His mother had him when she was nineteen, and his parents split up when Justin was very young. So Pattie had to do everything she could to put a roof over their heads. She took on many jobs so she and Justin could survive the hard times. When Justin was ten, he spent the entire summer playing music and singing on the streets to make money for his family. Justin may make lots of money, but because he still remembers what it was like to be needy, he generously donates to charities.
In conclusion, there is more to Justin Bieber than just a handsome face on magazine covers. He is a normal, hard working person who cares about people in need. He taught himself how to play all kinds of instruments, and is still committed to improving himself by taking voice and dance lessons. Also, he never gives up if he does something wrong. For example, if he sings the wrong lyric in a song, he doesn’t stop the entire concert, he just keeps on singing. More admirable than the effort he puts into his career, however, is that Justin donates his time and money to charities to help people in need. I really enjoy Justin’s music, but I truly do admire him most for all of his hard work and effort to improve himself and help others. To quote from Justin’s newest single, “Pray,” a song he wrote for the homeless and sick, maybe we should all “close our eyes and pray so we can see a better day” and ask the question, “Can someone tell me how to make a change?”
