I Shall Avenge You

“But you've been too busy saving the wizarding world, “said Ginny, half-laughing.”Well ... I can't say I'm surprised. I knew this would happen in the end. I knew you wouldn't be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort. Maybe that's why I like you so much.”
Harry’s face screwed up into a spiteful look and Ginny didn’t know if it was because of Dumbledore’s death or the fact that the two were broken up .With a miserable gesture, Harry got up, turned his back on Ginny and on Dumbledore's tomb and walked away around the lake. Ginny fiddled with her hands tears staining her cheeks and splattering on her cloth. All around her were people crying over a powerful, yet humble, man who made too many sacrifices that one could make in a lifetime. Many others though cried for many other different reasons. The Weasley Family cried over the fact that Bill had been scarred by Fenrir Greyback. Pansy Parkinson cried over the fact that her boyfriend went missing, but she did have a clue where he left. Susan Bones cried that her Aunt Amelia was murdered by Lord Voldemort himself. Ginny didn’t understand why the world seemed to be falling apart before her eyes. Most of the people grieving didn’t deserve to be going through the pain that they felt.

And it was all because of one man; one man who had a passion for the dark arts. It was because of him hundreds of lives were lost and thousands of hearts were broken. It was because of him Albus Dumbledore was dead. It was because of him Bill had been scarred by a werewolf. It was because of him Draco left Pansy. It was because of him Susan Bones lost her aunt; and it was because of him Harry left Ginny.

Harry...

It all seemed like a dream to Ginny. Her entire relationship with Harry seemed liked a phase... a dream... only a mere memory. Ginny always knew Harry would one day break up with her because of his noble sense. She deeply loved the fact that Harry cared so much for her, but she didn’t like that he broke up with her because of the fact that a man was hunting him down. Harry must understand that no one was safe. He could break it off with her, but it didn’t make any difference. Lord Voldemort still would kill her if he snatched the chase. He would still torture her when he snatched the chase. He would hurt anyone that was connected to Harry in anyway. But unfortunately, Harry didn't understand that.

Ginny quietly slipped away from the crowd mourning Dumbledore and hurriedly made her way back to the castle. Instead of going into the direction of Gryffindor tower, she made her way down the opposite corridor and soon found herself in the Astronomy tower. She didn’t know what brought her here, and she was actually rather frightened to be there.

It was where Severus Snape murdered Albus Dumbledore.

Ginny bit her lip, but she could do nothing to stop the tears that trickled down her cheeks and splattered onto the cement. Her feet pulled her towards the edge of the tower so she could see the grounds. She could see the funeral was still going and next to the lake was Harry.

Ginny could’ve stood there for hours just staring at him, but she sullenly strayed her eyes away from Harry and rotated her body so she was facing the tower. Ginny stood there staring at a specific spot in front of her and something flashed in her mind... a memory... a memory she didn’t remember...

"Severus ...” In front of Ginny, was Severus Snape, Draco Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Fenrir Greyback, and three other Death Eaters. Draco’s wand was pointed directly at her. Ginny gasped realizing the voice that said ‘Severus’ was her voice. She was in the memory of Dumbledore's death. And then something occurred to her. She was standing in Dumbledore’s place which only meant...
She was Dumbledore.
Snape said nothing, completely ignoring her (Dumbledore's) pleads, but walked forwards and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed. Snape gazed for a moment at Dumbledore, and there was revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face.
"Severus ... Please ...” Ginny could feel a tear fall from her eye. This couldn’t be happening. She wasn’t actually going to die. Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at her (Dumbledore).
"Avada Kedavra!"A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape's wand and hit Ginny (Dumbledore) squarely in the chest. Ginny scream of horror never left her; silent and unmoving, she felt herself being blasted into the air: for a split second she seemed to hang suspended beneath and then she fell slowly backwards, like a great rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight.

Ginny found herself standing in the same spot and staring at the same spot, but instead she was sobbing and sweating violently. She couldn’t handle any of this. Thousands of lives were lost at the hands of one single man. Ginny couldn’t understand how cold and heartless Voldemort was. She could finally understand why Harry was so determined to bring an end to Voldemort’s story. He was a monster. A monster that stole too many lives and was destroying their world; the muggle world as well, but they weren’t aware of this.

And here she was crying over the fact that her boyfriend broke up with her. She should’ve been crying over Bill and Dumbledore. Harry was just another boy who broke her heart... just another fake fairy tale.

With a grunt, Ginny lifted herself from the ground and with one last sniffle, made her way out of the Astronomy tower, but not before turning back and staring at the spot where Dumbledore stood.

“I will avenge you, Professor. I will not be the one to kill Snape or Voldemort, but I will do my uttermost best to bring this war to an end. I promise.”
