Letter to Juliet Capulet

Dear my brightest love Juliet,

I do not even know how and where to start. Earthly words are not worthy of describing your rich beauty, a beauty not just shown outside but within your heart. I wish I could cherish you every minute of the day, every day of the year for the rest of my life. I wish I could be that traveler who enjoys a breathtaking view of an incomparable beauty forever. Even statues would want to wake up to enjoy your beauty. Despite all of these, I love you for how you make me feel. Just looking at you, I feel so special. I finally understand why I existed after all. I existed to adore you and be with you. You make the Earth itself feels proud for containing such a heavenly creature. You have the modest personality, the perfect speech, and the gentlest look. I do not even know how to fully describe my true feelings about you. I never felt happier than now.

There is no terrestrial force that could stop my love for you. There is no obstacle that I would not be willing to overcome to be with you. I do not mind climbing up the orchard every night to be with you if I have to. However, I want to present my love for you proudly before the world. I do not want our love to be covertly expressed. The feud between our two families keeps us legally apart. It separates our time together. I am willing to risk my life to end this feud, but then I will not be able to be with you. Therefore, I beg for your cooperation if you love me so. The only way we could end this conflict is to incorporate ourselves into one permanently. Tomorrow if you please, report to Friar Lawrence’s cell where our hands will be joined in marriage. This will give us the power to reverse this long-term destruction.

Additionally, we need to avoid the law which restricts you to only wed with young Paris. I shall take you away from Verona, where freedom will allow us to achieve our happiness. I shall worry about all details to escape this city. When all tasks are completed, we will live in peace and harmony to which nothing can limit us.

Your love,

Romeo Montague

The author's comments:
About a year ago, when we were studying Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, I was assigned to put myself into Romeo’s position and write a letter to Juliet. I spent a good amount of time on this assignment. Now, while going through my old works, I once again come across this letter. Instead of throwing it out, I want to share it with you.
