A Modest Proposal: A Satirical Solution for The Great Barrier Reef Bleaching

FOR PREVENTING THE ESCALATION AND LONG TERM PERPETUATION OF REDUCING POLLUTION

It is a melancholy object to the Great Barrier Reef dying to the warming waters of El Nino moving in, bleaching the reef. Another problem is due to Global warming, all the pollution we keep throwing in the air, it’s making it hard for the great barrier reef to heal and regrow. This tragical display is taking place around Lizard Island in the northern third of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.  Many talented scientist are working days and night to try to stop the bleaching of this 7 natural wonder of the world.

I think it is agreed by all parties that the life-threatening occurrence in the great barrier reef needs to be fixed. 22% of the Great Barrier Reef has already died. Finding a solution is of the greatest importance. In 2 to 3 years the whole reef will have died, due to us not doing anything to help.

But my intention is far from being confined to provide only for the betterment of the Great Barrier Reef.  Walk or bike to your destination, this will reduce the fossil fuel emissions from cars. Fossil fuels lead to ocean warming, which caused mass-bleaching of corals and lead to widespread destruction of reefs.

As to my own part, I have studied the proposals of other projectors, and concluded that they are not nearly as efficient as they claim to be. My solution is the to lower the pollution in the air, because the high levels of pollution in the air is causing El Nino to strike the coral reefs and bleach them. Other solutions that were proposed are:

Conserve water
Research what you put on your lawn
Dispose of your trash properly
Support reef-friendly businesses
Plant a tree
Practice safe and responsible diving and snorkeling
Volunteer for a coral reef cleanup
Contact your government representatives
Spread the word

I will now present my own idea, which will not be subject to any disagreement.

I humbly offer it to the public consideration that humankind as a cohesive and cooperative unit, should never again drive a car or ride a bus, they a fossil fuel polluters to the poor barrier reef. Walking and biking will help to help to heal the bleaching of the great barrier reef to stop. Fossil fuels from the cars and buses, warm the waters and cause mass bleaching of coral on great proportions. To make this happen we need to get rid of cars and buses, allowing us to just bikes or walk.

In this scenario this will decrease the amount  of pollution in the environment. This will take the stress off the coral. Allowing the coral to regrow and heal from the bleaching. I will take the help of the billions of people to save  billions of ocean lives.

Of course with us stop using cars will be a lot healthier and happy with us always riding bikes or walking everywhere. Do to the decrease of the usage of cars and buses the plane will be a lot eco friendly.

These drastic and sudden changes may affect the way people get from place to place. It will be a hard change because we have become so dependent on to cars and buses. Even if the change is hard we will be able to  save one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

I can think of no valid objection that may be introduced to antagonize this proposal except how the world will make such a drastic change. I believe that all the people of the world see how important it is to save the Great Barrier Reef. The people of the world will try their hardest and accept walking and biking as their new way of transportation.

Again, no one should dare suggest these motions to me until they have a small spark of hope that these actions may be implemented.

It is not that I do not respect the input of others on the subject of solutions to this topic, but simply that I have researched 144 hours on the subject to prove that this is the best solution. This is the only solution that will have the greatest effect on stopping the bleaching and save the great barrier reef.
