Aubree’s family’s favorite vacation place was Traverse city, her family traveled there almost every summer. It was July 1st and they were leaving the next day to spend the fourth of July weekend up there. Along with Aubree's mom, dad and little brother Charlie, she was bringing her best friend Cali. They had so much planned there wasn't even the option of being bored. It was going to be an eight day trip of pure adventure and fun.
At eight A.M. the family woke up and hit the road. The drive was about three hours so they arrived there around noon with many stops to eat and use the restroom. When they got to the hotel they just hung out because they had a big day ahead of them, they were driving over to Empire to visit Sleeping Bear Dunes.
They had to wake up and be done with breakfast before seven so they could be on the road by nine. They arrived around ten, bought their passes and started the long climb to see the beautiful view at the top. The dunes were a golden yellow and the sand felt as hot as the sun. Aubree loved the way it felt between her toes. She took off her favorite sandals and wiggled her toes around, smiling a bright smile that showed she was glad to be there. Aubree and Cali were so excited but Aubree couldn’t stop thinking about what if she couldn’t make it. She had asthma really bad and felt like it would get in the way. Aubree wanted it so bad, she took a deep breath and told herself she could do it. She climbed and climbed and climbed but the end never seemed
to come. She was starting to loose her breath and was extremely tired. She paused to regain her
composure and was thinking about just stopping. Cali paused as well, “Aubree are you okay? We can stop if you don’t think you can do it.” She was about to sit down and quit but then realized she could do it, she wasn't going to stop when she was almost there. She shook if off, told Cali she was fine and started climbing again. After about 15 minutes and another break she made it to the top. Aubree was so proud of herself. She had made it, she had climbed all the way up, she had experienced the breathtaking view. Aubree turned to Cali, “We made it,” she beamed. “We made it,” Cali responded.
