The Day
Chapter 1: The Trip
I've been looking forward to this day for a long time now. Since the day my mother came to me with this news.
“Well, tell me, what's the news?” I asked.
“You and I are going to the Bahamas!”, she replied with a smile.
This news brought me a surge of excitement. I looked at the travel brochure and it looked like the best trip in the world. They had waterslides, bouncy houses, a five star hotel, and plenty of places to eat. The best part was the beach, that was thirty feet from our hotel. My mother told me to keep up the good grades and it will be definitely happen. It was eight weeks until school ended. So far I had all A’s. I looked at the calendar, it seemed like a million days till the trip. I walked over to my friend Olden Law’s house. I could throw a football and it would land in his yard. Olden is one of those kids who has to know what is going on. As I walked up to Olden’s house I knocked, but they didn't answer, so I walked home.
“Hey was Olden there?” my Mom asked curiously.
“No, he wasn't but I’ll try tomorrow.”
“Sounds good, Honey. Come get some lunch”
“Actually, I’m not that hungry.” I replied.
“Alright! I’ll leave a plate out for you, just in case.”
I walked back to my bedroom and and sat on my bed. I was pretty tired so I didn't want to do much. I had tried to go to sleep but once I had gotten to my dream my phone went off. I picked up my phone and looked to see who it was, of course it was Olden. Despite my tiredness I answered. I wasn't really listening to what he said, but an interesting part came up.
“ Want to go to the railroad tracks with me today?”
“Sure!” I said with a bit of joy.
The railroads were where Olden and I always hung out. I told him that I had to ask my mom. I walked out of my bedroom and into the kitchen. My mother was on an app. I think it was something like Pinterest, but I don't know. I asked if I could go to the park with Olden. She said sure. I didn't say railroad tracks because she would ask a bunch of questions. I walked into my bedroom and put on my shoes. I called Olden and told him I could go. He was pretty excited. I walked to the front door of my house and walked out. I walked to Olden’s house and knocked on his front door.
“Hey buddy!”
“Hey Olden.”
“Let's go now,” I said.
“Alright let me grab something.” I said
“I'm ready!”
“Let's go then.”
Olden and I walked down the park and hopped a fence to get into the railroad tracks.
“Wow! Seems like forever since we have been here.”
“Right!” I said.
“What did you bring in the bag?” Olden asked
“Alright I brought my bag of candy.” I said
“We’ll dont sit there let me dig in bro!”
“Wait not yet!”
“Why?” I said curiously.
“Stop asking so many questions.”
Olden got mad that I didn't show him what was in the bag so he took it.
“Give it!”
“No”
“OWW!!”
“Give it!”
“What was that for!” Olden said
“Or what was that?”
“Seriously what was that?”
“A taser?”
“ You don’t wanna know!”
“I do because you shocked me or something.”
“Let's just keep walking!” I said
“Alright whatever dude.”
Olden and I kept walking, but he still had a curious face on him. I don't know what he was thinking but I'm sure he was trying to figure out what happened to him.
“Hey I’m hungry” Olden said
“Same, wanna get some tacos?”
“Nah, I'm a allergic to Mexican food.”
“Shut up! You like tacos.”
“Ya I know let's just go there.”
We walked to the best taco shop in the world. It was called Sir Senor’s Tacos. Olden and I listened to the railroad tracks while eating our tacos.
“Just tell me.”
“What?”
“You know don’t play stupid!”
“ Olden?”
“What Torlo?”
“ We need to go!”
“Why?”
“Shut up and let’s go”
Olden didn't move an inch until I told him. Olden was always stubborn. He was like a mule who didn't move until his owner showed up. This wasn't like a small like a person came up to us or the train ran of the tracks. Those things I mention are small, but nothing like this.
Chapter: 2 The Thing
“OLDEN LET'S GO!!!!”
“Fine if you insist.”
As we hoped the fence back to the park area Olden was asking a lot of questions. So after running like a mile we were closed to our house, so I sat on a curb and started talking about what I saw. As always he tried to find out every detail. I got irritated about his questions to the point where I just ended the conversation. I told him I was going home and he should to. I got home shortly after and I walked into my house and my Mom asked me how it was. So I replied great, but I couldn't tell what I saw she would never let me go out of the house. I went to my bedroom and I realized to myself what did I do to Olden. I know I didn’t tase him. Or did I? I felt a source of energy from my body when it happened. I thought about what might have happened but realized when Olden was taking my bag I thought to myself “I really wanna shock him” And I think that happened to him. I wouldn't know for sure until I tried it again. What did I just do?
I woke up to the sound of my mom screaming. I ran down the hall and into her bedroom. When I got there she was holding her leg. I asked what had happened. She didn't respond. There was a long pause then she said call 911. Frightened I ran to the kitchen to get the phone. I dialed the numbers 911. They immediately answered and I told them my mother was in pain and they asked me where I lived so I told them. After five minutes pounding on my door erupted so I immediately opened the door and they came in. I sat on the couch crying because i had no idea what happened to her. A moment later they had her on a stretcher and in the ambulance. They told me that she may have fallen into a coma.
“I’ll stay with you until they give you the news.” The doctor said
“Just leave me, My mother is the only thing I have.”
“ Here come with me I’ll take you to the hospital to wait.”
“Like that's supposed to make me feel better!”
“Just come one Toro. You will be much happier.”
“How do you know my name?”
“Thats no need right now.”
“Get out of my house right now.” I shouted
“Fine Toro we’ll call your house when we get news.”
“Whatever just leave me.”
After the man had left I called Olden. I told him to come over. Olden said he couldn't so I sat on my couch and turned the tv on. After an hour of watching tv I fell asleep. Once I woke up I walked to the fridge and made some freezer waffles. I heated the waffles up and waited for them to be done. Out of nowhere my phone rang and it was a random number. So I answered in case it was the hospital. It was they had told me that my mother had fell into a severe coma. I was too much in shock to say anything. They man on the phone told me that they would come over to reassure things in person. I told them that would be great. Once I hung up I realized that i'm letting strangers in my house. I called Olden again this time he answered. I told him to come over and he did. I told him everything he was as in shocked as I was. He came over pretty fast.
Chapter 3: The Visit
“Hey Olden.”
“Hey Toro.”
“Remember that thing I saw at the railroad tracks?”
“Yeah,” Olden said.
“Well I saw a guy in a black ski mask staring at us. When we were running I shocked him. He took his mask off and screamed. This dude is the same dude from the hospital.”
“Wait you can shock people?”
“Sorta I mentally do it. But that's not the point. I’m saying that what if he had something to do with it.”
“ Like putting your mom in a coma. Yeah right no one can do that “
“It's not like they planned this out for years.” Olden said
“Obviously, but how come there were already guessing she was in a coma when she was holding her leg?”
Olden and I were going back and forth but I was still confused. After three hours of guessing what had happened I told Olden to get some clothes and food because he was going to spend the night for a few days. Olden got to my house around 1:00 in the afternoon. Olden was eating crackers in the kitchen while I was reading a book.
“Hey it's getting late.”
“I know but i'm confused.”
“Don’t be your acting paranoid, there doctors of course they would make an assumption.”
“Yeah I guess you're right.”
“Tomorrow let's go to the train tracks?”
“Sure,” Olden said
Olden went to bed after me because I woke up to him popping popcorn. When morning came I was already ready, but Olden was still sleeping. I woke him up and told him to get ready. After an hour he was ready so we headed to the tracks. I was looking around after we had hopped the fence to make sure no one was looking for watching. Olden was walking ahead of me.
“Hey what was the guy wearing last time we came here”
“What?”
“The ski mask dude.”
“Yeah what about him?”
“He’s over there!”
“Let me see.”
“This is not good.”
“I think he is following us.”
“No, he’s not”
“ Olden, he’s the doctor.”
“ Wait the one who came to your house?”
“Yeah, remember last time we were here he was here.”
“Oh yeah that’s right you told me about how we ran and he was following us so you ‘mentally’ shocked him.”
“Yeah but why is he following us?”
“Don't know.”
“Shock him.”
“I already did like twenty times.”
Olden approached the man after I told him not too but he did what he wanted to. He walked up to the man and the man started running of on the path of the tracks.
“Dude something strange,” Olden said.
“I know.”
“Dude he dropped something.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a letter. They talked about how they had him take you to the hospital and keep you hostage. They were going to let you go after a vigorous amount of torturing.”
“All that in one letter!”
“Yeah.” Olden said”
“Dude,we need to leave.”
“I have just the place.”
