The reason I dedicate myself to help animals... Is because there are so many people dedicating themselves to hurting animals~ Unknown

“Whoooooshhhhh” the plane flew overhead and landed at our terminal.  Taylor and I were finally old enough to move to Alaska.  After graduating from Stanford University I could move, and I could take Taylor with me too, now that she had graduated from Florida University.  Moving to Alaska is like a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier, but I think I’m getting ahead of myself...

We were finally all packed and ready to go.  We said goodbye to our family and friends who we will miss.  Who we will miss ever so dearly.  Everyday we will miss them but we both know our future is in Alaska.  As we walked to our car the tension and sadness in the air is an elephant in the room.  With tears streaming down our faces, we get into the car reluctantly and left. We drove for three hours to the O’hare International Airport in Chicago, and we didn’t say one word.  After we arrived, we passed through security and waited for our plane to board.  As we boarded you can hear the wind howling outside of the plane and it all becomes surreal.  It only took thirty minutes for our plane to be boarded and ready for departure.  The plane soon zoomed through the air.  After a very quiet eight hour trip we landed, got our bags, and met our car outside of which traveled from the west coast to Alaska on a barge.  Right when we got into the car the silence vanished and we talked about our plans for the future until we reached our new house.
Now back to present day…  Arriving at this house, and seeing our new life before us, makes it all worth while.  Our new house, an animal lovers dream home, is beautiful and with one hundred acres of woods, fields, and lakes it is perfect for both our careers.  Within two months we have everything setup and animal calls coming in.  For the next few months I will be all alone because Taylor is at a veterinary internship out of town and it’s all up to me.  Luckily I have a lot of experience and I am ready for everything…  So I thought…
Thirty-Four raccoons, eighteen squirrels, six bears, four wolves, and eleven fox later I couldn’t do it on my own anymore.  Sadly though Taylor wouldn’t be home for another five days and I have no other choice but to do it on my own.  Right now I’m at the point of getting at most four hours of sleep every night and I think I might be on the verge of crazy.  Considering I’m hearing things now.  Oh yah by the way my animals are talking.  The wolf, hyper, bouncy, and very very talkative…  Yes, the wolf is talking and yes I may seem crazy to you… But I swear it talked.  Not one doubt in my mind says it didn’t.  All of my life I’ve wanted to be able to communicate with animals and now that I can I’m more confused than ever.  One moment a baby raccoon is screaming at me to feed him, than a bear is saying in a raspy voice to give him a toy.  Maybe I am going crazy?  No, No I’m not this is real life and I know it.
Five days went by very slowly as I wait for Taylor, my partner in crime to come home.  Considering I have been hearing my animals talk for the last five days I knew for sure I wasn’t crazy and luckily Taylor will be home any minute and she will hear them too.  I’m so ready for her to hear these animals talk!  As soon as she  pulled into the driveway I rushed outside and dragged her into the animal area.  After tripping on her own feet, and mine, we made it there within seconds.  Maybe I should have started with a “Hi” and a hug but this is way too important for small talk.  The animal area was full of  talking animals left and right.  I was so happy they were talking even though Taylor was there.  Now she would have to believe I’m not going crazy.  FINALLY!!!  Someone else would hear them too!  Though my enthusiasm soon died when I saw the puzzled look on Taylor’s face…  She didn’t hear them.  Now she really did think I was crazy and there was nothing I could do to prove to her otherwise.  As she talked, I could hear the disbelief in her voice.  I knew what I heard was real I just knew it.  I guess it just made me sad my best friend couldn’t hear them and most importantly didn’t believe me.
After a while Taylor grew more and more of a bond with the babies.  Especially with a baby squirrel named Beau.  Even though she hadn’t heard them talk yet I knew the day would come when she would hear it.  Luckily that day came soon.  On april 15th, four months after our arrival here, she heard it… The baby clinging on to her side, cheerfully said “mama”.  Finally Taylor heard it, finally the babies talked for her.  Now I guess you could say we both have gone crazy, unless you would like to come here for a few months and hear it too… Maybe than you would believe us.  For now though, this will be our little secret until the world hears it too.  Speaking of hearing things… “Whoooooshhhh” a plane flew overhead, and we knew we were home.
