Arthur
“It’s a boy!” said the doctor to mother with excitement.
“Let’s name him Arthur,” said father.
“Let’s,” replied mother. “Doctor I feel light headed, very light headed.”
“Honey breath slowly,” said father standing next to mother while holding her hand. “Doctor help her please!”
At that very moment mother had died, Father got to his knees and placed me near mother, he started sobbing.
“She’s gone,” said father over and over. The very next morning father dug her grave and buried her. It was only me and father. Father had no experience with the duties of taking care of an infant, like the time he forgot to change my diaper the whole day or when he left me unattended alone in the room. Last time he forgot to feed me but then he eventually did after hours and hours. The years went by, I was ten now. Father often left me with the lady next door while he went to training. He trained as a knight for the knights of the blood. The Knights of The Blood Oath are a very strong organized army. Their gear is red mixed in with black, they always carried a big fat heavy sword or they would carry a big bow with long steel arrows and the big chiefs carried a small book with magical spells that were used in battle against the black magic sorcerers outside of the village. Magic was not to be practiced by anyone unless part of The Knights of The Blood Oath. People were often caught practicing black magic. Those people were beheaded in front of everyone or rather more painful, getting tarred. Getting tarred is extremely painful I believe and very sultry. Sultry enough to burn your face off into a little puddle of melted skin and meat. I was ten now, years have passed. “Happy birthday son,” said father. “You’re so big now.” he said.
“I’m only ten papa, calm down,” I said.
“I got you something,” said father
“What is it?” I asked. Father brought out a toy bow with toy arrows.
“Here you go my boy, it’s yours,” Father said
“Thanks papa,” I said with a joyful tone, “I always wanted one, thank you so much”.
“Glad you like it son,” father said.
Today was a beautiful day, so I decided to go outside and shoot my arrows. “Bulls eye!” I yelled. I’ve been trying to hit the tree for the past ten minutes. I sat down near the steps in the back of my little house. I didn’t know what else to do anymore, I was bored. I started throwing rocks at the tree I was using as target practice with my bow and arrow. “Arthur, come and write your letters out for me!” yelled father from inside.
“Coming!” I replied. Father was teaching me how to read and write. Hardly anyone in our village knows how to read and write except our army of knights of course. I’m very thankful that he is taking the time to teach me and give me an education himself. Out of nowhere I hear a loud BOOM! “Father what was that?”
“Nothing,” he said as he rushed me to the room and hid me in the closet. “I’ll be right back.” I was terrified; all I heard outside was explosions and people chanting dark spells. I started crying in fear that I was going to be kidnapped from the dark sorcerers invading our village. Spell after spell the knights fought back and tried their hardest to not let the dark sorcerers take over our castle where the king lives and holds all power. If the king falls, all power in this very own village will be gone. The village will collapse and fall into the wrong hands of the dark sorcerers. The village would be enslaved and all would break down into chaos. “Father!” I yelled over and over until I couldn’t anymore. BANG! Sounded like something fell over in the kitchen. “Look around and see if you can find some loot,” said some strange voice not too far from my room. I hushed up and didn’t make a sound or move an inch. I knew that I was dead meat if I was caught. I slowly scooted towards the corner of the closet. I wouldn’t dare to be caught. I peeked through the hole near the corner of the closet only to see three dark sorcerers entering the room with spell books in their hand ready to kill anything in sight. My heart was pounding so hard you can hear it miles away. As the sorcerers got closer and closer my heart started to explode into fear, faster and faster my heart beated. I choked and coughed loud enough for them to hear me inside the closet. I’m so dead, I thought. “Check the closet,” the strange voice said. As the closet door started to open slowly my heart dropped and sank so low it felt as if it fell on the ground. “Stay away!” I yelled. All of a sudden a firing force field surrounded me and spun in a circle shooting at the mysterious figure igniting the whole group into ashes. “How what?” I said in amazement but very scared. I have to go look for father but the fear of myself was holding me back, I couldn’t move out of my spot. I was too shocked to move an inch, too scared to even think about what just happened. “Pull yourself together Arthur,” I said repeatedly. I took a deep breath and started walking towards the front door. The door opened. I instantly hid behind the little chair in the room, still dramatized of what just happened earlier. It was father. “Father!” I said in relief bursting into tears. Father quickly came rushing to me with his arms spread wide open ready to give me a nice big warm hug. “It’s okay my boy, everything is fine now,” Father said. “What happened in here?” asked father looking at the mess the dark sorcerers made.
“Uhmm...” I said. I didn’t know what to say and my vocabulary was not as advanced; besides I was only ten. What else am I supposed to say? After a minute father went into the room and stopped and stared at the ashes on the ground.
“Arthur!” he yelled. “How about in here, what happened here?” I burst into tears went to father and hugged him. He looked at me for a moment and he put his arms on my shoulders.
“What happened?” he asked for the final time with a deep yet soothing voice.
“I was hiding in the closet and some weird people came in, dressed in black,” I said. “I’m pretty sure they were dark sorcerers looking for loot or...” BANG BANG! the door went. “Father who’s that?” I asked getting interrupted by the monstrous noise.
“I don’t know, let me check and see who it is,” Father said. As soon as he was about to open the door he was pinned down by a black figure jumping out of a vortex. “father watch out!” I yelled. Just as I was finished with my sentence father was gone in an instant. The black figure took father through the vortex and the vortex closed and father was never to be seen again. “Mother… now father,” I said while sobbing. “Why me… why?”. Since that day I have been searching for him, with these amazing powers I have I am certain to find father. Fathers been missing for seven years now. I know he is still alive and fighting back… or maybe he is dead. “No, stop thinking like this,” I said. “Arthur stop talking to yourself,” I said again. I decided to join the Knights and serve as an archer. I always had a passion for archery, with my sorcerer powers I can use magical strong arrows to demolish those dark sorcerer bastards. I just can’t go to the Knights and show my powers, they’ll think suspicious of me so i’ll have to keep it secret. Let’s see how this will go...
