Mother

Her mother races to her destination not having a care in the world about a speed limit.
Quickly stopping at a stop light she just sits there, wondering what had happen to make this cold, wet, dreary day even worse .
But then the light had flicked to green and she was off again.

Reaching to an old warn down police station where the lettering on the sign isn’t even lettering anymore.
She opens the dirty, squeaky glass door.
Letting it slam behind her.
Stomping her wet feet to the front desk.
Standing there with her head down and not making eye contact.
She just stands there with her head down and slumped over.
She slams her purse on the front desk .
Quickly and loudly she asks why her daughter is there.
The chubby police man explains she stole something from the mall.
As he is shoving a jelly powder donuts down his throat.
Speechless she stands there tapping her foot on the dirty moldy tile floor.

Looking up she sees herself in the dirty mirror, framed with a faded brown frame.
But she really wasn’t looking at herself.
She was looking at her daughter hunched over starring at her feet.
Snatching her things and slowly but heavily she walks out.
While her daughter shuffles behind her trying to catch up.
She slams the door behind her.
