Don't trust Everyone

As I walked down the steps of my brand new house, I wondered where in the world my parents were. First, they were just unpacking our belongings. The next thing you know, they’re both gone. So I decided to go around the block a couple of times, meet the people that live in this neighborhood, and then ask them if they seen my parents. I thought that maybe my parents were inside of of the neighbor’s house, having a small chat. Boy, was I wrong.

After 20 minutes of greeting and asking the children and parents there, I soon realized that they were a bit strange. Although they greeted me with smiles, their faces seemed blank, without any emotion, kind of like a zombie. Also, they didn’t have a clue where my parents were. However, the most strangest thing about them is that some of the men had shirts and pants coated with blood, as if they just went to a slaughterhouse. However, I never asked them about it. As I walked around the block again for the millionth time, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. There was a trail of footsteps, and it was heading into the woods that was next to my neighborhood. Hoping my parents were there enjoying the view, I stepped into the soft ground that would hopefully lead me to my parents.

As I stepped into the crisp, fresh soil of the woods, I admired its beauty that surrounded it. All around me were trees as yellow as bananas, red as apples, or as orange as our car. Also, there were rivers as lush as the sea itself, a cool breeze captivating me in its wind, and rocks with strange carvings on them.

“Wait, I thought. Rocks with carvings on them? Thats strange.”

I then examined the rocks. On each of them, they had a circle, with spikes inside them, like a compass. However, on some of the large stones, it showed the same thing, except with a serpent’s mouth hovering over the marking. Also, on some of the boulders, there was some blood on them, both dried and fresh.

“How strange. I said to myself. Who could have possibly made these markings, and why?”

Suddenly, I heard a loud rustling noise. I quickly hid behind a large tree, hoping that whatever made that noise didn’t come toward me.

A few seconds later, I heard a deep chanting of mysterious words I never knew before. I took a quick peek. I then saw all my neighbors piled together in one big group, holding their hands high, as if they were praising someone, or something. Suddenly, I saw a thin, old man, probably in his 80’s, come up to the front of the group, wearing a bishop hat, except it was jet black.

“Today, He announced, coughing as he went, is a great day for us, for 3 new victims have moved into our sacrificial area.” I then realized the “victims” he was talking about were us.

“We have killed and sacrificed two of our victims already. the man said, hacking and wheezing as he spoke. Then, we will kill the other one, a boy named Trevor. Although two is enough for Serpentis to rise, three is even better than two!

I felt devastated. So my parents were actually gone from the living world forever. The group of people then cheered, praising whatever that thing was. In my head, my mind was full of thoughts. Who was Serpentis, and why does he need my parents to wake him up? Can’t he use a alarm clock or something, not the screams of my parents? Suddenly, all the rocks suddenly erupted into a blue light, lighting the whole forest in neon lights. I admired if with wide eyes. It looked so beautiful, yet it marked the beginning of Serpent-whatever. A few minutes after the light show, the floor started to collapse into tiny little pieces, engulfing trees, bushes, and even terrified animals into eternal darkness. While those crazy people oohed and ahhed, I just tried not to scream in terror. Suddenly, out of the pit, a monstrous shadow out towards the Earth. I then dashed towards a glowing rock to take a closer look at the shadow. What I saw then was the most terrifying thing in my life. It was pitch black, with holes full of blue liquid squirting out of it.It had blood-red eyes that sensed my fears, and a whip-like tail that thrashed back and foward like a bull. I instantly realized it was the god the old man was talking about, Serpentis.

“Hey, I actually remembered what that thing was.” I thought to myself proudly as I watched the religious cult do its offering.

“Oh great lord of corruption, tyrant of destruction, and master of darkness, we are your servants, only puny little insects compared to you, almighty Serpentis!” The old man cried out loud. “Please spare us and give us your blessing!”

Serpentis stared at the group of people, now very determined. Its eyes seemed to pierce the mind and look through it. Finally, It swerved its monstrous body towards the right, engulfing every single person in the group in blue ooze. I watched in horror as the blue liquid started to become part of each person’s skin, not caring about their screams of terror and pain. Then each man, woman, and child started to grow razor-sharp teeth, claws, and even more disgusting and sharp objects until they became something out of a horror movie. As the process occured, I tried not to cry out in terror. But now, I couldn’t take it anymore. I screamed so loud, I bet God could have heard it. Instantly, every single head turned toward me, and I knew I was a goner.

“Whatttssss your nammmmee...”One of the creatures hissed at me.

“Uhhh...David. David Lopez” I lied back. I tried to be as calm as possible so that they didn’t think I was suspicious.

“How long were you spying on usss..” It questioned me.

“Just a moment. I said. I was just walking through these woods until I saw this happen to you. Ugh.”

“What did you sssseee..” It asked again.

“I saw that weird shadow thing come up from the ground, and you people turning into these blue freaks.”

“Are you ssurrree...”

“Yes.”

The monster looked at me, As if he was studying me. Then he grunted something to two other beasts. Instantly, they lunged towards me, gripping my arms. I tried to free myself, but they were strong, not moving a bit as I tried to escape.

“Let me go!” I cried

The creature then swung a fist at me, causing a giant bruise to come on my face.

“You can’t fool me. It replied with a disgusted look. You are one of the new ones, the one we haven’t killed yet.”

It then looked toward Serpentis, who was watching everything with great detail.

“ Now, my lord, It said to Serpentis, what shall we do to this little prisoner of ours?”

I gulped in fear, realizing that my fate was now sealed.

Serpentis started slithering towards me, crushing boulders and breaking down trees as it went. When it came up towards me, blue ooze still squirting from it, it suddenly spoke to me.

“So you are the boy that my servants were talking about? It asked me. Trevor, isn’t it?.”

“Yes. I said,Thats true.”

“Well, then, Trevor, It replied back to me. Lets make a deal.”

“What kind of deal?” I asked.

“If you join me and my soon-to-be rising army, I’ll let you have your parents back.” It said with a suspicious gleam in his dark eyes.

I thought for a moment.

“If I accept this offer, I’ll have to be with these horrifying fiends, I thought. However, at least I could be back with my parents. Maybe someday, I can declare my independence from him!

“I accept your offer, Serpentis. I announced, seeing a little grin in the snake’s face. I will join your army for my parents to be revived.

“Good. Serpentis replied in a jolly tone. I will soon be able to revive your parents. However,. for that great choice, I’m giving you a little gift. Come closer to me.”

As I walked toward the beast, it opened its horrendous mouth, revealing a pitch black hole full of teeth. Suddenly, a pile of black slime came rushing from the mouth, hitting me and engulfing me with the same liquid that mutated the group of people, but black. I then realized that I had been betrayed. As I saw Serpentis and his followers laughing with glee, I grew furious at them.

“Serpentis!!!! I screamed, attracting its attention. I made my deal with you, and you give me is this?! Where are my parents?!”

Serpentis then laughed at me, making my spirit from angry to fearful.

“Oh, Trevor, It replied, with a series of chuckles. You can’t just always trust everyone you meet. You have to analyze them. Look at them carefully. Not just predict that they’re telling the truth. However, I can assure you one thing. My gift will help you win against all odds.”

With that, I realized that the black slime was starting to crawl into my skin. I started screaming like hell for my parents and my friends. The pain was incredible, too much for me to describe. Black spikes started to grow out of my back and chest, then I grew twice my height, my teeth started turning very sharp, my hands turned into claws, my legs turned from thin to muscular, and finally, my skin turned jet black. After my transformation, I looked back at Serpentis, who was smiling at me with a unseeable grin.

“You used to be a weak human, Trevor. It said to me, boiling my rage. But now, I have tainted you with my power, the power to rule a whole civilization!”

He then turned toward the group of blue creatures, who were watching me with anxiety.

“My fellow minions, It announced. I present you, your new leader, Drevorn! He will help you go through the lands of Earth, and then spread the corruption throughout the humans. This way, Earth will bow down to us!!”

I tried to yell in protest, but what came out instead was a roar of approval. I tried to run away, but my feet stayed firmly on the ground. I soon realized that there was no escape, and I would have to live this way forever. And then maybe someday, I would break free of this body. Someday.
