Strawberry Milk
Strawberry milk
Many years ago, there was an amazing mammal that could do one amazing thing. That mammal was large about 6,000 pounds and was about twenty when it started using its ability. Her name was JO and she loved to eat melons, she had lots of animal friends. She was the life of any party; but as she got older, more and more animals left and never came back and her jungle grew smaller and smaller. Until one day, she was captured by poachers. When the poachers got her back to their village she was tied to a tree. The poachers said they were going to kill her but; she was quite smart and told them she was a very special hippopotamus. The poachers got in a huddle and talked it over they said that they would make her a deal; they wouldn’t kill her if she showed them what made her more special than the other hippos. She asked them for a bowl, the puzzled poachers did what was asked and got her a bowl. She then asked to be milked; stunned at the request the poachers said that they would dispose of her if she was lying. She said “if you follow my request you will understand”. The poachers milked Jo and pink liquid came out, a poacher fainted, another turned away, the one that milked her asked, “What is this?” She said strawberry milk. “Strawberry milk?” said the poacher; Jo said “try it if you don’t believe me”. The poacher looks down at the milk and smells it, too scared to be poisoned, he tried to put it off on one of the poachers, no one moved. He looks back down and Jo said “go ahead”, he slowly puts the bowl to his dried out lips. Gulp… gulp… “Ahhh, this is amazing,” the other poachers walk over and take a drink. They kept Jo there all throughout the night. She couldn’t sleep she was afraid of being killed. She pondered if her gift was good enough to keep her alive. The sun peaked over top of the trees and she saw shadows of people walking up with something in their hands. She closed her eyes as if she was sleeping. They shout at her to wake up; Jo opens her eyes and sees they have jars. She asked them what those are for, the poacher who had milked her said, “We are going to move you then we will talk about the jars.” They moved her to a hut and tied her in multiple places. The poacher said “we are going to make millions”. Jo is still in that hut and being milked every minute of the day to fill the need for strawberry milk all around the world. She wants her story to be heard all around the world so the next time you see someone with a delicious pink dairy beverage, let them know what Jo goes through day in and day out.
