The Hunger Games is a great book for anyone. The beginning of the book is kind of slow. It is mostly just talking about them trying to survive from hunger.


Katniss Everdeen from district 12 is trying her best to make sure her family has enough to eat by hunting, selling, and herding. Another main character, Peeta Mellark, is also introduced at the beginning. He is helping out his family by decorating cakes with icing. How will Katniss and Peeta be affected by the Hunger Games?


In this book, there are 13 districts but the 13th district was blown by the peace keepers for standing up to the peace keepers and now there are only 12 districts left. Hence – this is how the actual “Games” came about.


Katniss volunteers as a tribute, otherwise known as a participant in the “hunger games” to protect her little sister Prim from being forced to participate and maybe die in the games. Katniss finds that it’s very luxurious and is treated wealthy at first. However, things take a turn for the worst. She is forced to fight for her life.

Katniss and Peeta both have to face each other in the games but Katniss got burned both ways when she was almost killed by her Partner Peeta and when she was literally got hit by fire as part of the games.
