One Thousand Shooting Stars
They are the only ones that we wish on. We are the only ones that wish on them. One thousand shooting stars with yellow points and long tendrils like ours. One thousand who do not belong to this world, but simply shoot past it. One thousand wishes heard across the land. From earth we can see them, but many just glance and don’t pay enough attention.
Their formation is a sign of hope. They send hundreds into delight. They shoot past and disappear with the anticipation that they will be seen again one day. This is how they work.
When each person sees them shoot past and makes their wish, they’re left with a hope in their heart to hold on to. Wish, wish, wish stars say when they shoot past. They twinkle.
When we have given up on our dreams, when we have lost all hope in our heart, then we look for the next star. When there is nothing left to look at in the sky. One thousand stars that shoot when people need them the most. One thousand who always leave hope.
