Freedom
Freedom
Free, “not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one wishes.” In my life I have never truly felt free. I have been told that I have freedom, but why do I feel caged? I just want to spread my wings and live however I want, without having to worry about fitting in. If I were given the chance to choose to be any animal in the world, I would definitely choose a bird.
Whenever I look up at the sky, there are always so many different kinds of birds flapping their wings freely and going wherever they desire too. Ever since I was a child I dreamt of flying all over the world, without anything stopping me from doing what I want. Sadly not every one’s dream comes true. Choosing to be a bird would mean having the ability to being able to travel anywhere I want to without having to worry about having enough money to book a flight, having to make sure I have my passport with me, carrying a heavy suitcase around the airport, or having to worry about making it to the airport on time. Birds can just choose a place they want to go to and fly away without having to ask anyone for permission. I could fly freely to Europe and enjoy the view up above from the sky, not having to fear if I’m safe on a plane because I would only depend on my own wings.
I would never have to stress in choosing my future career and college at the age of eighteen. I wouldn’t have to worry about being a good role model for my siblings and a good daughter. I wouldn’t be worried about disappointing others or trying to go out of my comfort zone to talk more and try making new friends. I have never been good at talking to people and making new friends. Birds don’t have to go through all of that.
If I were a bird I would never have to stress about doing good in school, staying up late trying to finish homework, being a good role model for others, making money to afford a trip to Europe, and making my parents proud of me. Without those restraints, as a bird I’d truly be free.
