The First Vault
On a warm still day it came the time for me to pole vault into the pit for the first time. My coach was there talking to someone and my fellow vaulters were talking amongst themselves. I was anxious, nervous, and scared because I had never gone into the pit before. I remember running reminding myself of everything I needed to do to hopefully be successful. My life flashed before my eyes and when I landed all I could feel was happiness and I looked at my coach he had the most amazed face like his child had just been born. My fellow vaulters looked at me in happiness knowing I have found something that is truly me and makes me happy. I learned that day that not letting your fears get to you and trying something new can do a whole lot in not just discovering something new but in every aspect of life.
