You may not believe it, but here’s how it happened. 

One Friday night water splashed out of the tub. 

Because water splashed out of the tub little Allie Mae’s mom slipped and fell. 

As a result, Allie Mae’s mom yelled. 

As soon as she did, Mrs. Mae’s face went blank. 

She had just realized that she broke her leg.

Because Mrs. Mae broke her leg, she had to call for help.

Because she called for help the ambulance was on its way.

“Darn!” She shouted. She had to cancel her plans.

She was no longer able to go on that date.

Because Mrs. Mae had to cancel on Josh, he had to terminate his dinner reservations and cease getting poshed.

But Josh was mad because this date was all that he had.

It was all that he could say to get out of his family dinner. 

Because Josh’s plans were ruined he couldn’t turn back. 

He had no excuse but to go and play music for his mother’s amusement.

Because Josh played his piano nice and bright, he and his parents missed the fire alarm that night.

They were so caught up in the beautiful sounds of the music they hadn’t noticed that there was a steak burning.

The steak was black and crispy, so nasty to see.

If only water hadn’t splashed out of that tub! 

Maybe then Josh could have eaten with Mrs. Mae and caught that movie.
