        I sat in my room with my sister Jay flipping threw spell books, trying to find a protection spell. “Hurry” We heard Jasmine yell. We contoured to flip threw the book, I couldn’t find anything so I stood up and grabbed my brothers bat and ran downstairs.”Kayla what are you doing” Jay yelled, I didn’t listen, I snuck around the room were my step father had my mother in a head lock “you kids are worthless, you can’t even help your mother” he yelled at the twins jasmine and Jasper who were frozen in fear. I waiting until my mother saw me out of the corner of her eye, I looked down at her hand which was a thumbs up. I swung the bat hitting him in the back of the head. He fell to the ground letting my mother go. She violently gasp for air, Jasmine and Jasper had her arms over there shoulders.As we walked upstairs, the bottle that had been in his hand was on the ground broken.

    Hours later Jasmine,Jay, and Jasper were scrambling around the house gathering clothes and any money they could find, while mother and I were having an argument. “Kayla listen to me, if he doesn’t wake up then I have to take the fall” my mother said place it both of her hands on my shoulders, tears ran down my face “Mom I’m the one who did it, they need you “ my voice shaky as I utter the words “your right, but Kayla your the only one who possesses magic in this house, you can take care of them now go gather your clothes, money,food, coupons, blankets and whatever else you can find” My mother said with tears falling of her face onto the floor, her voice more shaky than mine. I was about to say something when she said “don’t argue go” my mother yelled.

    I ran up to her bedroom and grabbed as much jewelry,photos and books as my bag could hold.Jasper got the blankets and pillows, Jay got the money and Coupons and Jasper got the food. We met with my mother upstairs “ Kayla bring your spell books and anything else regarding your existence, I have already called everyone that knows about you, there is no longer a record” My mother said “but mother why” Jasper asked “because when I go down they’ll take you down with me” Mother said. My ears were very well trained I heard sirens about a mile of two from our house. “ there almost here we need to leave” I say to them “they gather around my mother and give her a hug before climbing out the window and escaping into the woods, “I’m so sorry” I say to her “ I know but you saved me and I have to save you no matter what” my mother said before giving me one last hug and a kiss on my cheek. “ now go” she said more tears on her face. I walked to the window not bothering to look back., and escaped into the woods.     

     We watched from the trees as they took our mother into the car.Jasper and Jasmine were crying. “Kay, what are we going to do we’re children 17, 15 and two 14 year olds”Jay said “we do what we think is right”I replied waiting for the cops to leave.

       We watched as nightfall and the police left, we had out our flash light guiding us to our tree house we built a long time ago, it was hours away it was more like a safe house, because it had water, electricity, and heating. We climbed up the latter into the house and set up camp were we rested until the next sun.
