O Muse Me
I experimented with foreshortening and facial expression in this piece to create a photograph-like mood, as if my friend who was posing for me was actually posing for an awkward photo. The figure's facial expression is integral to the piece, I think, because without that dream-like giggly smile, this piece would be a rather ordinary portrait. I was also opting for a clash between the black/white medium (which tends to create a more stern atmosphere) and the playful facial expression.
